Evaluating Value: Assuming they needed a HC, which teams would want Miles?

I'm tired of hearing people say "I know he has sucked lately, but we can't find anyone better." My response to this is--how are you gaging his value exactly?
I am a capitalist, so I evaluate the worth of goods and services based on how much the market wants it.
So I pose to you the following question:
Which power programs (perennially ranked in the top 10-20) would consider Miles a top choice if they had a head coaching vacancy in a typical market? And by "top choice" what I mean is the fans of said program would largely approve of the hire.
So far my list is:
Definitely:
• Michigan
• Michigan State
Probably
• Nebraska
• Notre Dame
• Penn State
So, largely just struggling former powerhouses in the Rust Belt. No teams that have access to large quantities of home-bred 4-5 star talent. I think that says it all about his value folks.

I think you've hit on something. desparate teams from outside the SEC would probably hire les. I also think there are teams inside the SEC that would hire him, usce included. and maybe UGA

I simply reject your premise.
Miles is coming to the end of his coaching career. Everyone knows this. Teams looking for coaches are generally on a multi-year plan of building the program.
It's just a very poor way of evaluating the worth of Miles as it relates to LSU.

Michigan doesn't want Les. Not the admins, not the fans.

Mid tier at best schools in the power five. Would be funny if LSU and Miss State swapped coaches.

Sorry to inject some reality here, but your age is very much tied to your value on the job market.

Miles is NOT a wanted HC. Period!
His career will end at LSU.
No other school is calling - and never has.

so you throw out some schools although you honestly have no idea ....then proclaim that "that says it all" based on some schools that you through out there even though you really don't have any idea.
seems reasonable

I am assuming that this is a hobby.

So your assessment is that Miles isn't a desirable option because he's 62 and has shown that he's far more likely to retire as opposed to coaching into his 70s... and that his appeal to a program has nothing to do with his actual coaching tenure.
Groundbreaking stuff.

I 've followed CFB for a long time and I have friends who are alumni of all the major CFB powers. I think I have a pretty good feel feel for the basic pulse of each fan base, and what their general receptiveness to hiring a Miles would be.
If there are teams I left off my list that you think should be on there, say so. I'd love to know who you think they are.

Good thing those fans and schools didn't want him then since he ended up giving us the best 11 year run in program history.

Only program would be Mac school close to where he grew up in Ohio and that's it!
