How did I know the answer was going to be Bama! Lets start worrying about game 1 before game 10

a pocket passing qb will not beat Bama
I can do it too: a qb making his first career start against bama on thd road will not beat bama, even if he runs fast.

What a nice suggestion. I am sure it would work...

Brilliant. Yeah let's give a guy his first start AT Bama

There is no way on God's green Earth Etling can defeat Bama.
Was about to agree with this, but changed my mind. If Etling was playing behind a Bama-level offensive line, he could probably pull it off.
Since we won't have that OL, I do agree there's no way he beats them next year.

Okay show me a pocket passer that has beaten Bama.
I'll be waiting

Also, did any of those teams that beat Bama have a defense as good as ours? We dont need to score 40 points to beat them

Show me a pocket passer that had a dominant OL, that played Alabama.

Well this certainly was not a $6 million post.

I hate to be harsh, but this is the dumbest idea I've seen on this board. If the quarterback we start against Bama can beat them. Why not start him against everyone we face.

Desean Watson, Cardale Jones, and Chad Kelley have set up a blueprint for beating Alabama.
You might take a peak at these guys passing stats when they beat Bama. They all had career passing days against Bama.

You have to have a really good college QB to beat Bama.
We beat Bama 2 years in a row with Jefferson and Lee as QBs. We need more creativity in our play calling (more movement and mis-direction in passing routes)and a little better protection along OL. I've been watching LSU games from the Fisher and Crowton eras and while they had their inconsistencies, they were generally more effective. A 5th-YR SR Etling can beat Bama with the right OC and game plan (with Aranda's dominant D).

Yes, but did Bama have to account for their legs. Dual threats are not going to rack up a ton of rushing yards vs Bama. BBBUUUUTTT Bama having to account for the QBs rushing opens the passing game.

Well since you didn't answer my question i'll ask again.
Name me a pocket passer to beat Alabama.

While I agree mobile QB is preferable, we had plenty of offense against Bama with a very non mobile Zach M and should have won that game. The loss was not on the O.
I think Scott should have a legit shot to start from day 1.

I think a guy proved my point about 2 posts up. I will piggyback off what he said and say this.
You have to be able to play 11 on 11 with Bama with them on defense. Bama playing 11 on 10 with a QB who can't scramble or avoid rush is dead.
Alot of o-line struggle with the pass rush Bama generates. When the o-line breaks down the QB has to make a play with his legs.
