Desean Watson, Cardale Jones, and Chad Kelley have set up a blueprint for beating Alabama. The only way to beat them in the current era is with a dual-threat QB. While Etling plays great against other defenses, he is a sitting duck against Alabama. It's a mismatch problem that Matt Canada will identify during the season leading into November.

I'm not saying Brandon Harris or Lindsey Scott should start for Alabama, but it should be in the game plan so that their defense at least has to play two different offenses. The last time LSU beat Alabama in 2011 we had Jordan Jefferson on the bench ready to play. Well we have a pretty seasoned dual threat on the bench ready to play in 2017 as well.

With 5 down votes it telks you that the rant don't give a shite about beating Bama, only that their favorite QB starts the game.

It's an interesting question. I was wondering, amidst all the Hurts complaints, whether or not Bama should have primed a second quarterback to fill in as necessary. Then again, he played well for almost the entirety of the season, and they only lost on the final play of the final game.

Etling did not do any better than Jennings or Quinn against Alabama, therefore etling should not get another chance against Alabama like Jennings and Quinn didn't get another chance against Alabama.

There is no way on God's green Earth Etling can defeat Bama.

I think he's a good kid and I am a big fan of his, but no.

There will be a full and open competition at Quarterback during the off-season. The Etling pumpers here are delusional to think otherwise. He may very well win said competition...but he is NOT an entrenched incumbent.

He can execute more of the passing game than any other qb on the roster.
He will start next year.

We have a new coordinator coming in and our production with him at the helm was not good enough to beat good defenses. Not one good defense.
It isnt all his fault but he needs to compete. Period.
