Good article. Bama should be ashamed knowing the only way they got in the championship game is the SEC's deal with ESPN but I'm sure they won't care or see it that way.

Not my opinion.

I agree with this. In fact, its ESPN's sole motivation. They are in the business to make money and it's their business decision that the LSU/Bama matchup will give them the best ratings, so their selling it. Their not emotional about it and its not the talking heads that we see that are making those decisions. They are following the company line and doing what they are told. If you watched any of the ACC game last night that was painfully obvious. Company men all the way.
And it makes no difference that its the only game on that night--its about picking up viewers period, not about taking them away from another game. Trust me, its their only agenda.

2.25 Billion Reasons ESPN wants an SEC rematch Good article on why ESPN is in bed with Bama right now. They invested 2.25 BILLION dollars with the SEC for broadcasting rights.

All this talk about espn polliticking for Bama got me to wonder. What is their real agenda. From a ratings perspective LSU-Bama is probably the worst option, so why push so hard for it. It can't really be that they love Saban and Bama that much

It could also be that there is no real agenda to promote Alabama. I've watched a substantial amount of ESPN in the last week supporting Okie Lite. See, for example, the Sports Reporters this morning.

From a ratings standpoint, the LSU-Oklahoma St. game would garner a larger audience share. The idea that ESPN is somehow involved in the Machiavellian conpsiracy is kinda nutty.

I don't agree with everything he says in this article, but he makes a very strong point here.

For me, if the man behind the curtain at ESPN calls out LSU vs. Bama on Sunday, the college football season is over, and LSU is your national champion. I’m not obligated to vote for the winner of the “invite only” one-game of a crappy BCS system, like the “coaches” are in the “Coaches" Poll.

Why would I vote Bama over LSU if they win? In that scenario the teams are 1-1, with LSU 13-1 to Bama’s 12-1, the Tigers will have won both the SEC and SEC West crowns, will have more wins than Bama, more wins against ranked opponents by far, more wins against teams with winning records, more wins against top three opponents, more wins against conference champions (Oregon and WVU to Bama’s zero), AND WILL HAVE BEATEN THE TIDE IN THEIR OWN STADIUM.

Tell me again why Bama would be the champion?
