That's the thing. Les' turnarounds almost never happen at the half. Things just randomly start shifting at some point nearer the end of the 3rd quarter.

Yep. Shades of Troy, '08.

Miles, to this time, has with stood the test of time. Another sign of a outstanding coach. The two coaches you mentioned, went downhill after their title, Miles has Ben in 2 title games. His last 2 yrs ago or in his 7th yr at LSU. His tour at LSU is far different from the 2 HC you mentioned.

The 2011 LSU run to another BCSNG, 7 seasons in to the Miles tour should have been enough to dispell your fluke concerns.

If you look at what LSU has done since 05 and compare it with the rest of college football, I do t see how anyone can can see it as anything but great/outstanding/elite.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

So by your logic then Chizik at Auburn or say Carr at Michigan would be great coaches since they each won a NC

Why is everything so rigid to you? You can't see that not everything is black and white? No reasonable human could possibly put Miles, Chizik and Carr in the same breathe in terms of "greatness".

I didn't say Chizik/Carr were great coaches...I'm asking should they be labeled "great" coaches because they won one championship?

When Saban was at LSU he only had one really strong coach to compete against regularly, Tuberville. He still only managed one NC title and two SEC championships, all with a little help.

On the other hand, Miles has been coaching in the most competitive era in college football, and especially in the SEC, and has had to coach regularly against (and mostly held his own against) some the of top coaches in college football history who are coaching teams on a par with the talent that LSU has. Hard to really argue with his success and his place at the top of LSU's coaching history and among the best in the SEC's history.

Although I enjoyed the first one as much as the next guy, you'd have to admit how incredibly lucky he got the first time.

The 2nd time...well, you know what happened.

Luckier than say, Aub being in NCG '13? Many bullets dodged there, except the P&G one.

Getting a 2nd shot in the NCG at a team that defeated you in conf play is pretty damn lucky, or even a conspiracy, as some suggest.

The Miles '07 team was the most worthy contender for Crystal, and at least a Conf Champ, not just a name picked out of a hat.
Remember when you dis Miles' Natty, you dis LSU.

Yes. WAY luckier.

Oh, Saban has had his share of luck. I'd argue he's really only good for 1.5 of the 3 that he's won.

I understand all this and don't disagree. But being objective, you have to admit it was a very lucky outcome.

Troll 41! if sabin had any decency in him he would thank espn for their recruiting of his team and slive for the nice referrees who take of him, no coach in america could do what coach Miles does with the same obstacles and I didnt name them all !

I just don't consider being chosen by resume for competing in NCG as being lucky.
Subsequently skulldragging the opponent, a consensus #1, in said game is luck also I guess?

Les is the man. He has a formula that gets W's. Unfortunately W's aren't enough for many LSU fans

Being the only 2-loss BCS championship team ever is lucky. Losing a 2nd game on the last week of the season (at home) and still making the title game is...lucky. (Same luck that Bama got in 2011-12).

No, it was a good win. But the loss on 1-9-12 was much much worse. I wouldn't be saying this if LSU had lost 21-17 in a hard-fought loss. But as you very well know, it was no such thing. It was a horribly miscoached (13 out of 15 4th Q plays were RUSHES) embarrassment.

The SECCG dimmed the 3OT loss and there really wasn't another team more qualified.
Who did you want instead? I guess you were pulling for Kansas or Hawaii to make it?

Hardly. Bama played no team worthy of a poll jump after the loss to LSU- struggling with FCS GSU, won vs 5 loss State and 4 loss AU.
LSU won SECCG vs a ranked UT after the Arky loss.

But the loss on 1-9-12 was much much worse.
What does this have to do with either Miles or LSU's unbelievable good luck?
Maybe just something you thought you'd throw in for another slight against LSU?

There is not a team winning a national title who hasn't been lucky. To win a national title you have to be very good and fortunate. You don't think Bama was lucky in 2011 when they got to go to the national championship game even though they couldn't reach their conference championship game? You don't think Bama is very lucky to have had LSU playing Fla. while they play Tenn? You don't think Bama was lucky just last yr. when the SEC took Ga. Off their schedule and added Ga. to ours.Luck is something every champion had had fall their way.

So LSU was lucky in 2007....so what??? We still had to beat some very good teams including the # 1 team in the nation to win it all.

Les is probably the worst coach ever, that 80% win percentage in 9 years at LSU is pathetic... He really has no idea what he's doing.

So sick of hearing about play calling in the 11'NC. We were NEVER going to pass the ball against Bama that year, Lee would have gotten destroyed, and would have thrown 27 ints. They got a second chance, they won the same amount of games against us, that we won against them. Get over it Rantards... You people act like it was 65-0...
