Do you pay starters more or all 85 equally.
All 85 the exact same.
quote:
Then you'll have alumni start funds to pay coaches more who will pay players out of pocket.
Which is probably illegal, if not it is pushing the edge.

bullshite. No matter how much you pay, it will never be enough. Greed.

Would you agree that some is better than none?

Those advocating paying the players all kinds of money are also the first ones to cry when ticket prices and parking, etc. go up.

I think what they get now is plenty. They get thousands of dollars in free tutoring alone that is not even counted in their benefits. They also get high paying summer jobs that few students have access to.
I think the entire argument is a joke.

If anybody should be commended for this it should be Spurrier!! He's the one that brought it up!

Ask the nfl how that is working out.

How many students make 80+ million for the university? They get special treatment for a reason. IMO, they should be getting paid to play.

If it was plenty then you wouldn't have players cheating for relatively small amounts of money.
So it isn't enough, and the argument is not a joke.

I don't have that problem, thanks.

The majority of the athletes come from poor backgrounds too. The fact they can't hold a job during the year is also a joke.
They can't take anything. Not even local businesses can put them in a commercial and pay them. That to me, is complete BS. Nobody is saying pay them 100k a year to play...

Your point?
They are compensated?

If you dont think they get special treatment and the best of everything in comparison to regular students than I bet you have never ever stepped foot on LSU's campus. They also go to school for free, get housed and fed for free. And they have the best medical coverage.

Right, and local businesses can sell their number jersey and they don't get a dime.

Not directed at you, sorry.
Was directed at all the cry-babies that are so generous with other people's money, meaning the university.

I know more about the situation than you, I'm sure. I had friends on the Football team and I know exactly how they get treated. You're only seeing what you want to see and not the facts.

Exactly. People exploit the shite out of named athletes and make a dime without their consent. Yet, the NCAA makes billions and the university makes millions off their name. These fools in this thread just see them hammering pussy they'll never see in their life and get jealous. Like I said, they only see what they want to see. You don't hang around them. You do not know how some of them really do struggle. When you're handcuffed by the NCAA and can't even hold a normal job, lets see how you do with their meager living aid. None of these guys can be spoon fed by mom/dad like some of you.

Congratulations, Im glad that there are only a few people that have interactions with athletes and that the rest of us only perceive something that is other than reality.

What players are cheating for small amounts of money? The news only reports big things like cars and such.

quote:No player has ever been handcuffed by the NCAA. They can take any amount of money from any legal source they want, and can sell their likeness to anyone for any amount they can get. And they are perfectly free to take any job they can get. They have all CHOSEN not to do those things in order to INSTEAD play college football. If they don't like the restrictions, no one is forcing them to keep playing. Matt Mauck CHOSE to stop playing college football after the 2003 season so he could pursue another opportunity, just like every other player could at any time.
When you're handcuffed by the NCAA and can't even hold a normal job, lets see how you do with their meager living aid.
Unfortunately, some of them make the choice to play college ball, then try to cheat and break the rules while still benefitting from their choice.
