Debate is the kid turned down other big offers to play the less glamorous pos. of OG for his state school and was a day a way from starting camp then had the rug pulled out from under him. It's shitty way of treating ppl. If the staff felt he wasn't gonna be a contributer, it makes it all the worse.

Is this whole story true? He was going to redshirt this year anyway. Why not just delay,and have him sign in DEC, and be apart of 11 class??

ppl w/ sources on the team and staff say he found out in the last 24 hrs, you think it'd take a lot of phone calls for a depleted team to take a shot on a kid that had been recruited relatively heavily?

I'm as big a LSU and coaching staff supporter as you will find, but this is kind of a dick move.
Like I said, I doubt we miss Porter and I never expected him to play, but when you are promised a scholly and then told you aren't going to get one at the last minute, that's messed up. And it's not like he can go back to other teams camps to try to impress them or anything else. He will have to go where a spot is available this late in the process. I guess it's good for him the Kiffen screwed UT out of recruits so he has a spot at UT now.

He could have found out Monday, or over the weekend...it's not like he needs a month to call Dooley and ask if he has a spot, get real

Agreed...Heck, the only way we lose Porter (or Wing if you like) is if Simon, Ferguson, Gore, Wing and the other guys on the fence academically all got in. Hooray, they all did--but this was far from guaranteed, some might say even extremely unlikely. And because they did, there was gonna be some fallout. It's unfortunate that Mr. Porter ended up being the guy, noone will argue that, but if word is true, he still ends up in a big-time school with a scholarship and probably a better chance of playing sooner than here.

Its funny how everyone pretends its no big deal when kids that play the same position keep leaving the team for whatever reason: kicked off, quit, failed out, greyshirt, transfer. Seems like every season a plethora of OL leave the program for whatever reason, but its no big deal because we dont need um and so and so is a 4 or 5 star and is better.

bottom line is that Miles is in a lose-lose situation.
With some, if he signs players that didn't make it, it's his fault for not recruiting players with decent grades and a shot at making the team.
Recruit kids that make the grades and he's a terrible communicator.

fact is, I'm sure the staff figured he'd take a year off considering he was going to RS anyway and he decided against it.
Regardless, I'm still going to argue points with people that have obvious agendas against Miles. Again, lose/lose.

We didn't tell him to look elsewhere, a grayshirt isn't the worst thing on the world for a guy like him. This is his decision
