It just sucks. Kid has worked his azz off all Summer and they do this. Not even knowing if Zach Lee will even be here after the 16th. If Lee goes pro

I agree. That is F'd up no matter how you look at it. I never thought Porter would really ever see a down besides mop up duty, but that is still messed up.
The NCAA has to catch up to the way schools are handleing the recruing process. They need to only allow 25 verbal commitments and sign no more than 25. No more greyshirting. If everyone qualifies and you oversign, then you still can only take 25 and how many you oversigned by, you lose that many scholarships the next year.

Saban doesnt do this shite this late in the game. Recruits are told they may be greyshirts back in the spring.

So what is the big debate about? It works for everyone. Porter is still going to play for a big time school on a big time scholly. We are blessed with having too many good recruits and have to let one go. Obviously, guys that get paid the big bucks don't think he would have been a big contributer here. Everyone will be happy in the end. Miles is a great recruiter and if he hurt this kids feelings by offering a gray shirt, oh well, he'll get over it. Not like he isn't going to get his somewhere else and he will probably have a better chance of playing elsewhere.
