What's happened to Drake Davis? I thought this was supposed to be his breakout year. No catches in scrimmage #2.

Hurt?
Overrated?

The scrimmage was 1/3 of a game considering special teams and situational stuff, so don't read a lot into scrimmage stats.

Chark, Gage, and Dillon have separated themselves as the first three receivers in this offense. Davis has some work to do to get on the field regularly. The knock on him coming out of high school was his inability to run crisp routes.

Overrated? Hell no lol. He's looking to start on special teams kickoffs and possibly punts as well.. believe he's spending alot of his time there right now. But he's a dangerous wr. I feel he's the guy on the entire team with the most potential at his position. Maybe Devin White is #1, but drake isn't too far behind. That's just my opinion tho..

He's starting opposite of Chark with gage at slot when 3 wide which is most of your plays... that's your top 3 ATM.

Drake Davis is a player of great, unfulfilled potential.
And it may forever be so...

According to Coach O, Drake Davis will be a very good football player for LSU one day when he learns how to play wide receiver. According to Coach O, the main thing that is holding Drake Davis back right now is he has only been playing football for two seasons.

However, Coach O recently hired a new Wide Receivers Coordinator who has instituted some new passing drills that Coach O says he has never seen before and he also says the dividends are already starting to pay off with improvements across the Wide Receiver Corp.

He has talent but he apparently isn't demonstrating all the necessary traits as a WR. It means nothing if you can't run the routes, master the assignments and reads in the offense. Returning kicks and punts is not a indicator of his value as a wide receiver.
I hope for the best with him but the light needs to come on for this young man.

And Anderson will be ahead of him when he gets back. Drake needs more time to fully adjust to playing WR in football. The other guys are just more fundamentally sound right now.

Yep. And notice how you get downvoted on here when you just relay what the head coach has said himself.

According to Coach O, Dee Anderson has been hurt and has missed most of the fall camp thus far.

He said so far, Chark, Gage, and Dillon have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and that Stephen Sullivan has made significant strides recently in his consistency to run accurate routes and in his pass catching ability. He also said that Netherly also just finished up his best week since he has been here on campus and that the new Jefferson freshman is very good and should see some playing time this season. Furthermore, Racey McMath was hurt during this past week and should be back on Monday and once again Dee Anderson has been injured and has missed most of the fall camp thus far.

I say that Anderson is ahead now because he was last season. I honestly don't think Anderson will regress any from missing a fall camp. Not sure why that's rubbing everyone wrong.

I agree. It shouldn't take him very long to get caught up and he did look very well last season the few times he played receiver.

What does it really matter? Didn't Orgeron say he wanted to use 8 receivers in the course of a game? All the motion and shifting I'm guessing will need a constant rotation.

A sophomore who hasn't played football for too long. He's still learning the game. Next season will be his breakout year. Dillon and chark will be the best WRs on the field. With Moore and Moreau both getting a lot of receptions this season.
