Let’s face it. College basketball (and football has the same problem to a different degree) is a cesspool of iniquity.

From brand sponsorship, to the whole AAU mess, to bidding wars, to apparel companies. It’s absolutely driven by money.

That’s why I don’t hate the purpose of the whole FBI investigation. College basketball needs massive cleanup.

NCAA rules are antiquated and are a charade that attempts to hold universities to a higher standard than any of its major money making member institutions choose to abide by. And to make matters worse, you have clown AD’s like Alleva who buy into that notion even though they know they are guilty for the sake of public perception. Combine this by unrealistic expectations that fans and media expect from coaches to win now, and this is what you get. Hands in the cookie jar.

If the allegations are true, I don’t fault Wade for doing what it actually takes to be successful..considering the incredible number of instances where other programs have done the same and have gone unpunished.

College athletics as a whole needs reform. Nobody is playing by any one set of rules. Money talks...because that’s what everybody has made the game today to be.

We need to let go of the notion that there is any integrity whatsoever in college sports. It is a business. Pure and simple.

F*ck the ncaa. The schools don’t need them. Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC will get off easy from this investigation. The ncaa will likely pick a few schools like lsu and arizona to f*ck. They can’t f*ck everyone because then schools would realize they dont need the ncaa, leave them and create a different governing body for college athletics.

I kind of hope Wade becomes the hero that brings about an end to the corruption.

I'd like to think LSU would retain him regardless. The NCAA's ability to issue and enforce punishment upon institutions may be nonexistent by the time the dust settles.

We need for Alleva to be fired now and a competent AD hired who will stand with Wade throughout this.

The money exploded into sports and entertainment over the past 40 years. The college athletic level did not adapt smoothly other that just collecting the cash.

Charge it to the game playa.

I agree 100%. i am not judging WW. but if he gets caught breaking any laws or NCAA regulations, it is what it is. Kinda like marijuana. you may believe it should be legal but if you get caught while it's still against the law you pay the price. I do believe that if this was just WW offering but no $$ exchanged hands I would keep him, take whatever punishment the NCAA hands down unless they demand he quit coaching, and start anew. I know that would probably not happen but that is what I would do.And if I knew other schools were offering $$ to players I was recruiting i would let it be known.

What Alleva did was make a bigger picture situation all about LSU...in a negative way.

So in effect, you can also blame Alleva for obstructing justice.
