Does LSU get involved with push for new BR bridge?

I'm a basketball and baseball season ticket holder from Lafayette. The first thing I did this year when I received my ticket packets was put all Friday games on sale on stubhub.
The reason...No way am I crossing the Miss River Bridge eastbound on a Friday.
When I decide to skip out on those games, Baton Rouge is missing out on potential hotel, dinner and gas purchases. If my ticket does not sell, then LSU misses out on my spending at the concessions stand. When I do attend games, I typically upgrade my seats via the app. That's more money toward athletics.
My point, there is no way I'm the only person west of the bridge who thinks this way. I would imagine there are people west of the bridge who don't buy tickets at all b.c. of the bridge.
Should LSU be more involved in the push for a new bridge, or is it too political for the university to be involved?

I'm one of those people. It's not just the Miss River bridge, it's the drive from Orange, TX to BR on I-10. I attend one football game a season and try to catch a baseball game also. I have family from TX/LA border to N.O. and it is such a pain to drive on I-10 to see them. I get on 190 or Hwy90 most of the time now. Longer drive, but at least it is moving. LSU campus has great memories, so I gotta have my Tiger time.

It's not great, but it really isn't that bad to the point where you have to miss games.

How do you know the person buying the ticket already lives in BR? Maybe, they are traveling from out of town too

I thought they had plans in the works for a new bridge in a different spot. I live in Sulphur and officials here were tired of waiting for the state to fund a new I-10 bridge so there are plans underway to fund it privately and make it a toll bridge. A new six-lane structure a little north of the current disaster waiting to happen.

Nevermind.

I would have to leave work at 3 p.m. on a Friday to cross the bridge to make a 7 p.m. first pitch. The Box is only 55 miles away. Let that sink in.
Crossing on 190 is not a solution b.c. 110 gets backed up b.c. the 110-10 merger.
It's not like that everyday. But the additional traffic of people traveling for the weekend adds up on Fridays.

No, but I’m sure any bridge or road widening project will be opposed by a vocal group of LSU students and professors calling the project racist.

LSU does not care about you dude

I'm not starting this discussion because I think LSU cares enough for one person. This is not a "whoa is me" discussion. I'm saying if there are hundreds of others who think and feel the way I do, then that is loss revenue for the university. That loss revenue adds up year after year. B.c. of that, should LSU get involved seeing the amount of potential revenue left on the table.

So LSU got their money from you. They don't care if you place the tickets on StubHub, burn them or flush them down the toilet.

Even if LSU somehow got involved, what leverage do they really have?

FKing would never let a racist bridge or road widening project go forward on his watch.

I am from northwest Louisiana and have a family of 5. We used to go to at least 2 games a year and several baseball games. We will still go to baseball games, but have not gone to a football game in 4 years. To go and come back home it is about a 12-14 hour ordeal if I’m lucky. To go and stay the night it will cost a minimum of $1,000 total. I have chosen to spend my money on other things and watch on tv so I don’t lose a whole day of my weekend!

You do realize you can get to LSU without getting on I110/I10

One day this bridge will be built...but we will all be in the grave by that time...but our taxes dollars will pay for it...and it's countless studies of where to put it....at least they can't charge you a toll if your in the grave...

Boat?
If I'm coming from Lafayette, what other opportunities are there to cross the Miss River besides I-10 and 190?
