It's probably closer to $100 million reserve.

would have been futile...when Charlie Strong was fired, Herman to UT was a done deal....that's his dream job.
Exactly. He should have timed out the Jimbo negotiations, moved on to Herman, and signed Herman before Strong was fired.
His mistake was allowing the Jimbo negotiations to drag on.

Then he should've countered Texas on Herman.
Why? He is technically doing his job. Tickets are sold, athletics is making money. THAT'S his job. His job is not to "win a championship". His job is to do whatever it takes to ensure that the athletic department is making money.
You can hate him all you want because frankly, no, he isn't a "win championships at all costs" kind of guy. He is a "bottom line" kind of guy.
LSU athletics is basically the Saints of years ago. As long as the tickets are sold and the stadium is full (at least until halftime) and the program is making money, there is no need for him to change anything.
Now if ticket sales start plummeting. You will see themscrambling to win championships because that will put butts back in stadium seats.

why does lsu give back to the academic side. I remember several years LSU giving 7 million dollars.
that is 7 million dollars that can be spent of televisions on every players locker like texas has.

I think alleva was pissed that herman was playing him or he felt that way. and basically took his toys to another playground without a back up plan - you fire a coach in September and to hire a postion coach?
Herman probably was playing him, but you still see it through to the end, because you don't know for sure. You don't throw a fit like an amateur.

I began buying a Coke at the half many years ago. I won't pay for crappy food. Everybody do the same and it will either change or concessions will fold.

Uh, without the academics, you have no LSU football.
