A big problem has been for LSU that we have moved the ball many times but seem to stall in the red zone and settle for field goals. Does Cam have a record of solid red zone efficiency? The offense really isn't far off. A bit more consistent on deep balls and better td/fg ratio in the RZ should exponentially improve the offense.

Our red zone efficiency was great it 2011. However, it was terrible in 2012. This HAS to change this year...

Yeah it was pretty frustrating at times. We seemed to move the ball well outside of a few games but always seemed to stumble in close. Perfect example is South Carolina game.

It was a mixed bag with LSU's offense last year, at times they couldn't get a single first down and others they settled for field goals. But its all good now, we got Cam. Its a new day.

I expect to contend for a BCS bowl or the natty this year. We are loaded with talent offensively. Cam certainly has a full cupboard.

Every time that we got inside the 10 we would run it up the middle until we scored or had to kick a fg (which was much more likely).

Ravens was 5th in the league in red zone efficiency (TDs only) in 2012.

Improvement in these two areas alone would make a world of difference.

It really would. Cashing in with TD's does more than just score more points. It actually is a win for a defense to hold a team to a field goal in the red zone. The momentum factor of punching it in on a defense is undervalued.

I don't get it. We were one of the best at it in 2011, 2010 sucked but in 2009 JJ was the #2 QB in the country in the redzone. Second only to Boise State's Matt Moore. Also what's odd is that that is usually a trait of hurry up spread offense when they get inside the 20, everything is compressed and they usually can't spread you out. We are a power running team, but with no legit threat to pass in 2010 and 2012, we stunk.

One thing about JJ was when used properly he helped out with his feet in the redzone. Not only did he score with his feet, he did make a few passes here and there. I recall him dunking one off to hilliard while he was getting hit in 2011.

I think what screwed a lot up was crowtons crazy substitutions he would do. In 2012 we really had no threat to run from the qb so we stuck with trying ware or just running it up the middle. Which became predictable.

Nobody on this board has a clue if Cam will improve LSU's red one efficiency.

One thing that I am hopeful of is that we return to throwing balls to the back of the endzone when we are ten yards and in. We did a lot of that when JR and Flynn were here but it has been mostly absent since.

I noticed in some of the practice film, that the we were practicing a stop and go route from the ten yard line, designed for the throw to be high to a receiver at the back of the EZ. The catch that Dural made, that everyone raved over, was on such a route.

This type of pass is very effective in the red zone and has been missing from our arsenal the last few years.

Hope Cam is resurrecting it!

If he uses the tight ends and running back like he says. Then yes our RZ efficiency will increase significantly.

Of course...Cam has already become the best OC in the history of college football.

Too bad he will still have to produce.
