No one knows because this is a rant speciality.
No one knows about how other fans feel about a "lucky" National Title either -because every other school fan feel that they earned it and certainly don't put it down every other day.

I bring this up because I was curious as to whether a difference in OCs might make a difference, or if this is strictly a Miles thing.

It is strictly a dumbass rant thing - every coach does mistakes in almost every game - some in particular areas others spread it in multiple areas.
Rantards like to concentrate on Miles because they are set of insecure idiots who are pining away for the ex-girlfriend simply because she is not there. Had Saban been here they would have complained and ranted like this about him too.

Miles had Tech beat in Shreveport while at Okie State but kept trying to throw the ball in the 2nd half when they were up by more than 7... Let Tech back in the game and they beat OSU - maybe 2002 or so
