I'm curious what the players think about our "fan" base and the national media basically saying we suck......do they know, or even care for that matter?

I don't think asking them about how THEY are performing is the right method. Let the PLAYERS do their job and as a FAN we will do ours which is watch. Jus' sayin'. I do know that they would appreciate our support though. If your fans won't back you up, then who will?

We don't suck at all. We're overrated and probably underperforming.

Suck? No way.

Look up the word 'suck' in a dictionary ... next to it is a picture of Curley Hallman.

I know the majority of the bashing has been towards Miles and the coaching staff but as a player I'm sure the continual bombardment has to bother them a little, and hopefully motivate them....not that they should need it to.

I hope that they aren't even aware of this board. If they were, they would refuse to come out of the tunnel

I personally know several tigers and my step brother is a commit for the 2011 season. I know for sure that several players read this site. When you google LSU football this site is one of the first ones that pops up. Most players can't understand where all this negativity is coming from. The team is 4-0 but people act as if they're 0-4. In reality it hurts recruiting because believe it or not recruits read this site and they buy into the B.S. that is said on here.

And by the way after meeting Les Miles in person anyone who says he isn't a great coach is just plain ignorant. IMO

I here you.

And you might be right, that seeing some of the comments on this board could hurt recruiting.

But what hurts recruiting so much more is seeing a talented team go to waste.

That's where the criticism comes from.

Players can't question a coach.

If fans can't, who can?

i agree wiht you tigerjag24. also, i don't think it would hurt our recruiting much if the recruit reads the other team boards (or most of them anyway). meltdowns and negativity are the rule rather than the exception.

Or they could use the criticism, both here and nationally, as motivation and start playing up to their ability.

I'm pretty sure a positive outlook on 4-0 is better than shitting on them like they are 0-4...i'm sure they get motivated in practice..some 40 year old man who is living his life through college kids treating them like dog shite prob. isn't a great motivational factor

I have to disagree with that and go with the idea that negative comments and/or reaction to the program from its fans hurts the program more.

Example: Notre Dame.

Look how pathetic they've looked the last 2 years, yet they get talented recruits. Yes, they're NOTRE DAME, but they have been the laughing stock of college football for the last 4 years really. But they continually get good recruits because of the constant positive feedback their fans and program put out there. They continually prop up the program as if its the number one team in the nation even AFTER losing to pathetic Syracuse at home.

Recruits go to websites such as rivals.com and team/school sites like this site year round. Football games are year round but fans either trashing or promoting the team is year round. This is what potential recruits see before, during and after the season.

I talked to a kid out from Evangeline and he was talking about coming to LSU and guess what one of the best ways he keeps up with LSU football............he comes here. Wonder what he's thinking right about now.

is a 4-0 start "going to waste" would it be asking too much to let the season play out before jumping on kids and coaches.
Many fans are constantly looking for something to bitch about.I enjoy winning a game and don't worry about what it means for the next month of games.

So you met him and he was a nice guy. That makes him a great coach?

Yeah, I know if I was a college aged athlete, nothing would motivate me more than some nicknamed, faceless, internet douche bag shitting on me.

Great post.

And I'm sure you are correct. By your statement those people that sit on here and bash players and the coaching staff are in fact directly hurting the program. Yet when it's said that they aren't fans they start to cry and bitch about that.

I don't know what makes people think that a 16-17 year old kid who has LSU as one of his choices wont sit at a computer when they have nothing to do and type "LSU" into the google box. This web site WILL come up.

Well, I know the water boy's 3rd cousin's next door neighbor's pen pal. And he says the team has reviewed the site thoroughly and to a man they've concluded that all of my posts are right. Even my WYHI answers on the OT.

Strangely enough, he said that the only other thing that a good majority could agree on was that they would love to have a friendly game of tackle intramural football with SFP.
