Drop back Qb. If it is good enough for the nfl it is good enough for lsu.

whatever will get us the most W's
It would be nice to have a QB that can accurately get the ball past 10 yards on a consistent basis though.

I want a QB that won't throw for 30 yards in the SECCG, even in victory.

Pocket awareness. That's all.

I want Mett and only Mett. That specific enough? It works for all these other teams, why the hell won't they allow it to work here is beyond me

The ability to read a defense and navigate the pocket. Don't care if he can't even throw a spiral. Just let him do those things and be a team player

Honestly, if I were a running (black) qb I'd never set foot on LSU's campus. The last three endured serious trauma.

A true dual- threat, As in cam newton or Robert griffin, absolutely. However, a dual threat that runs well and is a mediocre passer, no thanks. I'd take an above average passer and mediocre runner, anyday of the week.

I want a guy with great accuracy, big enough arm to matter, and quick enough feet to help himself avoid the first guy and buy time when he needs it. Not a tuck and run before looking at the first 3 options who becomes totally ineffective against above average defenses.

Sad thing is we may have had a shot at RGIII but we wanted JJ.

Pro-Style
If we ever see another dual threat QB it better be Cam Newton's love child with a velociraptor.

Given LSU's talent you really want a true Pro Style QB.. and of course it helps if he is somewhat mobile.. But yes more of a passer than a runner is best.
Cam's and RG3's are too much of a rarity.

A game manager like mauck, Flynn, or lee. They get the ball to the talent and spread it around.

Another quick comment.
I have no problem with the 2 QB system when worked correctly... ala 2007.
A True Starter: matt flynn (pocket passer who is somewhat mobile).. with a change of pace guy ( ryan perrilloux )who can truly run and run a real option and can throw..
I like how Florida did it in 06 with Leak and Tebow.
I like how Oklahoma does it with Landry Jones and then that Bull dozer guy. I find nothing wrong with that.

I want the equivalent of a point guard to run the offense. A tough SOB who knows what he wants to do, and does it. Someone who can keep turnovers to a minimum, and distributes the ball to the skill players as appropriate. A leader who refuses to lose.
Running skills are fine, but being able to pass comes first, imv
