Considering that we didn't have a defense last year and bumma was supposed to be the greatest team to ever step on a football field & they had to go to OT to squeak one out, I'd say this year, with a defense, we actually may have a realistic shot.
For the people like Glenn Guilbeau & Bill Curry who drool in crimson (or for GG, any color other than purple & gold just to get a rise out of LSU fans), what makes them believe that bumma is going to dominate the SEC? First off, NO team will ever again dominate the SEC, too many good coaches & good facilities to keep one team above the rest (when you are talking about the big 4 or 5 in the conference). Secondly, a lot of people like BC & GG, think that the mere presence of lil' nicky in bumma is a sure bet. What has he done there so far? Sure he is a good coach & sure he can recruit & sure he can coach defense but he hasn't won the SEC & he gets blown out in bowl games. What would make ANYONE say/think
quote:LSU beat bumma in 07, took them to OT-with a horrible defense-in 08, & nobody has played a game yet in 09. Not to mention that BC also is praising ole missy as the "right now team", ok, maybe he is right, ole missy ALWAYS is the "right now team", BEFORE the season starts!
that bumma has too much for LSU to compete with and are on a different level?

This year in T-town is going to be a VERY sobering experience for Bama and its fans. I really do see LSU dominating this year much as they perfomed in 2003.......the talent we have is focused and angry as is the coaching staff. shite gonna get real!

This question is 1) worded terrible and 2) not good anyway. A REALISTIC shot?? Who are we Tulane?? We will not be favored this year to beat Bama but barely a underdog. And the media usually goes off LAST YEAR's results and so do most fans. Alabama the new king after a runner-up finish in the SEC?? This game should be very close, more of a edge to Bama's D, but more of and edge to LSU's O. And as usual turnovers will probaly decide the outcome as they usually do in games like this. Freakin realistic shot...I swear

Are you kidding me? Parker Wilson is the only thing that held that team together last year, give credit where it's due. I see the tide turning this year.

what a croc. bama is NOT a better team than LSU. they MAY BE as good as us. they won't be better than last year and they beat us in ot. we, on the other hand, will be better than last year. expect a very close game that should be a toss up. bama has now had 2 years where their recruiting has been AS GOOD AS OURS. ours were better when you consider ours make it to school where many of theirs didn't esp the '07 class where they were #1. statements like curry's tick me off too. it's that bama ASSUMPTION that they are now back to the bear bryant days and are superior to everyone else that make one want them to lose every friggin' game they play.

per Bill Curry. the difference between me and Bill Curry is that it has been PROVED that he doesn't know shite about football teams. I gotta feeling we gonna kick some Bama arse this year.

Yeah. I'm leaving Iraq in about 10 days. I'll be home in about 3 weeks.

Bill Curry is wrong. Last year, with no defense and an interception machine at QB, LSU took Bama to OT. This year LSU should be much improved. Bama on the other hand will be about the same. They lost their QB, tackle, and starting RB. Bama will have a great defense, but their offense wont be great.
In the last couple years, Bama's recruiting is no better than LSU, and they've lost to UL-M and couldnt score an offenseive TD against Tulane. Bama was overrated due to a relatively weak SEC, catching OlePiss early in the year, and not haveing to play Florida.

Bill Curry is ridiculous! Of course we can beat Bama and I think we will beat them by a couple TD's this year.

JJ and TigerFanNKaty:
Thank you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. I'm really accepting them on behalf of our young men and women over here who do the dangerous work in Iraq. I'm a field grade officer, with a comfy job on a comfy base. Yes it's Iraq, but compared to some of our troops who are outside the wire regularly, I'm not really at risk. I don't like being away from home, but I've had civilian jobs that took me away from home, too.
Nowadays the big fight seems to be in Afghanistan....

Bama was a slightly overthrown pass from probably not even getting to OT with us, and it took a horrific day overall from our QB to keep them in the game at all. The Bama offense only managed 14 points, and 7 of them came off a 15 yard drive after an INT. And yet, without Coffee, JPW, Andre Smith, their TE and two other starters from their OL, they are going to put points up against our defense with a proven SEC Defensive Coordinator replacing Mallory and Peveto? That's just a huge stretch, imo.
Their defense should be solid again, but a near total lack of experience at QB when also replacing virtually every element of your running game (leading rusher and 5 of the 7 blockers) is hardly something to overlook. But for some reason many people are, despite Saban's history of struggling with unproven QBs (cf., 2002 & 2004).

Do they have a realistic shot to beat US is the question you should be asking. The answer is yes.. we're equally talented I think now.
