I hope Cade becomes an all around good catcher, but as of right now (and he’s only a true freshman) being an exceptional defensive catcher like Milazzo was is a huge reach.

I think he can be as good or better than Millazo defensively. I don't know that he will be, but he could. His numbers look as good as Millazo's did as a freshman.

In 119 chances in his true freshman season, Millazo had 2 passed balls, though he was 5 for 5 in throwing out runners. That was in the 2020 season when we probably had more consistent throwers(which helps for passed balls), and we did not get to SEC play before the season was cancelled.

Arrambide in 188 chances had 2 passed balls. In 8 stolen base attempts, he threw out 3 baserunners.

I think the potential is there. Will he be as good as 4th and 5th year Millazzo? Probably not. But he probably won't be here for season 4 and almost definitely not for season 5 if his bat stay like it is, that is one thing that Millazzo lack, hitting skills.

we have more wild pitches and pass balls than usual

It’s passed* balls. And no it’s not more than usual. We were just spoiled with Alex Milazzo.

Defensively, Arrambide's been statistically as good as a freshman as Milazzo was as a senior. Milazzo was a liability offensively. He had 12 extra base hits in 5 seasons. Arrambide has 7 as a true freshman, Hernandez has 20.

No, errors are on defensive plays.
This perfectly and concisely explains the rationale here, because it is counterintuitive that a defensive player's action would allow a runner to advance without it being scored an error.

I don't care what any numbers say. I watched the games. He has a LONG way to go to become a good receiver of the baseball.

So did Millazo as a true freshman.
