Used to be the students stayed the latest....now they're the first ones to leave!?!?!? It's embarrassing - a pan of the stadium midway through the 3rd qtr and the student section was almost empty. I couldn't be

You have to understand they have to get in line and in the stadium hours before kickoff to get a good seat, and earlier the more friends they want to sit together. The biggest thing is security though. Before 9/11 it wasn't so hard to sneak in liquor, and the punishment wasn't always probation. To top it off (and this goes for the entire stadium) I don't smoke but they need designated smoking areas to give some their fix.

Right, but in return you get a seat that most pay top dollar for. The student section started thinning out in the 1st quarter, and that must have been then ones that got there later because they were at the top. And if I understood it correctly the frats have a designated section that is reserved, so I doubt they get there early. I would also be willing to bet, they are the first to leave to. It is truly pathetic.

They've always been social events, no? I mean, tailgating is what LSU is known for.

This chickenshit Ole Miss "we never lose a party" attitude has spread throughout fanbases in the entire conference. Many people consider the game ancillary to the tailgate rather than the other way around.

I reminds me of the 90s when we'd be down 27-6 and people would be talking about how great the halftime performance was.

don't know if I'd saying it's secondary persay,

I would say it is. If I go by all the folks I tailgate with across a couple of different tailgate spots, as well as my nieces and nephews that sometimes go to the games and get all their names on paper, I know for the majority they go to tailgate and for the social aspects. Sometimes they decide right before kickoff not even to go and go to a restaurant or bar instead.

The game is secondary, they really don't have the passion. And there are more of them than folks like me, I have no question on that.
