The fact that the announcers said that point to the fact that LSU has underachieved and has less national respect than in previous years. While I'm very critical of Miles, I'm optimistic that CC can effectively address the offensive woes which appear completely out of Miles wheelhouse to fix himself.

All it points to is the fact the announcers made a mistake.

Well, your reaction to their mistake points to the fact you must be smoking rope.

Yeah, that's totally what I'm doing. I'm just giving my opinion on the matter and trying to be civilized (unlike you). In my opinion, and in the opinion of many others, Hawthorne makes the broadcasts way less enjoyable and doesn't paint a good picture of the event; LSU could and should do better.

Look at the bright side of things. You and all of the other Hawthorne haters have a hobby. You sit in your ratty Barcoloungers swilling tepid ultra light beer waiting, hoping, praying for a mistake so you can waddle in here and start a new thread about how bad he is. That has to be worth something. I mean it gives a little purpose to your otherwise vacant life. You should send him a Thank-You card for that.

Initially, they did, but then corrected themselves. It was pretty funny.

Pretty sure Joe Dean Jr. corrected the PbP guy who made the erroneous comment. Jr. is somewhat of an LSU football fan. Have seen him at many games over the years with his dad.

Don't knock Hawthorn if you ever listen or had to listen to their hack, sheesh bad broadcasting at its finest. Johnny football, 24 yards rushing and three picks, yeah he was great??.

I thought the "matter" was the SEC broadcast crew.

Did Hawthorne have anything to do with: Did the announcers in last night's game say A&M beat LSU in FB?

stupid, LSU beat a&m. they had more yards but that ain't the way score is kept. there's no "kind of" in any sport much less football. LSU was the only team that contained jff.

Wow... someone is a tad bit insecure. And you have now proved my point that Hawthorne apologists are far more aggressive, combattive and generally insecure than rational humans.

Touche'. Hawthorne had nothing to do with that.

Someone made a crack about Jim, followed by someone defending him in a manner of calling the poster a "cry baby" or telling them to "go back to their momma's basement" or something of the like, so I felt the need to chime in.

Actually, Igignot (spelling) has a point. aTm, much like Bama in 2011, did "kind of" beat LSU...

Think about it..

aTm got the better bowl, higher ranking at the end of the season due to having the Heisman winner (who cares if LSU shut him down), despite playing a weaker schedule AND LOSING to LSU at home.

Now, for 2013, aTm is getting more recognition simply because they did what LSU did in 2011: BEAT Bama at home. aTm is now referred to as a "juggernaut" for doing this, while LSU earned "the right to a rematch".

Face it, LSU football is the redheaded step child of the SEC and it won't change any time soon. Know your place, Tiger Fans.

PS - Quit ripping Hawthorne. TIA

Insecure?
How secure does one have to be to constantly obsess on each and every little mistake Hawthorne makes and then spend hours posting and commenting on it?
I guess it makes you more "secure" people feel good about yourselves to hack on Hawthorne, knowing fill well that you couldn't get close to handling that job.
That it?

Please show where I "constantly obsess" over "every little mistake Hawthorne makes", followd by "hours" of posting about it. Pretty sure I've just made some very generalized statements about my opinion of his performance.

I don't want to be the play-by-play guy, why can't you understand that? I want LSU to get someone better. I think we deserve better. Is that all that ridiculous to say?

I don't "hack on" Hawthorne, whatever that means. I respect him for his many, many years of service to LSU. He was a huge part of my childhood. I just wish LSU would get someone who paints a better picture and is more enjoyable to listen to.

Deserve? What have "we" done to deserve anything? How does one "deserve a better (however one might define that term) p-b-p announcer?

I might be the exception in this little lynch mob, but I enjoy listening to Hawthorne, foibles and all.
Just hang in there a few hours more. LSU has a game tonight and Hawthorne will likely be on the air, so you can sit there with your pencil and note pad jotting down every little miscue, so you can rush in here later complaining that you "deserve" better.

What the frick is your problem? I've been nothing but civil to you and I'm trying to have a mature conversation. I guess that's not possible. Also, show me one post of mine where I nit-pick "every little miscue." I'll wait.

"We" refers to LSU. Louisiana State University. You know, the insitution that I attended and gave money to and now buy tickets to sporting events and pay a monthly Geaux Zone fee for? LSU has been around for over 150 years and has touched more lives in Louisiana and around the world than you or I could ever hope to. I think it deserves plenty of things, including a better PBP guy.
