When he lieft for Army, I said "OK - his dream job came available - sorry to see him go."

When he went to SC I felt betrayed and haven't cared for him since.

He was great for LSU while here, but I've got nothing for him after that.

LSU fans were at least a little pissed. There is a picture in Pete Finney's book "The Fighting Tigers" of a sheet sign hung from what looked like one of dorm rooms at Tiger Stadium in 1961 when Dietzel was leaving. It read, "'I will never coach anywhere but LSU'--Paul Dietzel 1958".

I was about 9-10 when he left but I do remember a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth when he jilted LSU, not unlike what we saw when Saban announced he was coming to coach at Alabama.
