The offer to the recruit was a scholarship. The offer to the parent and handler was that Wade will take great care of the recruit and treat him like a son, make sure he goes to class and work hard.

ESPN basically has him as a mascot. Honestly, how often have you seen or heard from him prior to Wade drama? Dickie V was once a recognizable and marketable brand. He is now as relevant to the game and ESPN as MySpace is to social media. He was a pioneer and is an icon, but now he’s washed up in his profession. His light now is fading quickly; he’s no more than the glow from a back porch mosquito zapper.
