he started out as a running back and filled in admirably in the SEC championship and the bowl game (?)for Davis and Toefield, who both were injured, and he was just a shoestring tackle away from breaking a couple of long runs
then Saban converted him to receiver the next year

Don't think he saw the field in the '01 SEC Championship game, that was D. Davis who filled in for Toefield. Don't remember him playing in the Sugar Bowl either TBH. DO remember him going off against UK in 2002 even before Dash Right 93 Berlin...

He played in the Sugar Bowl.

Had perhaps best game of collegiate career vs. Illinois in the Sugar Bowl ... Rushed 13 times for 54 yards, including a long run of 17 yards ... Had 9 carries for 46 yards in the fourth quarter vs. Illinois ... Also returned a pair of kickoffs for 44 yards in the Sugar Bowl

Everybody remembers Gleason's block (and rightfully so) but he also had the other touchdown in that return to the dome game on that little reverse play.
Couldn't find the link on YouTube. Anyone have a link?
