re: Detailed explanation for why Simon is #2 CB and not TM.

Great as a 5'9 CB he is, even he is human. I certainly wouldn't want to see a 5'9 CB running down the field with Alshon Jeffries only to see him get abused simply because of the height difference. 6'5 against 5'9. Not sure he'd need to put much effort in catching the ball at the highest point...and if he did, would be impossible for TM to do anything about it. With Simon, you have that opportunity because he is much taller with longer arms. The balls he slapped down in the spring game are prime example. The one JJ threw to RR was a well thrown deep ball. Simon just reached around him and made the play. A normal DB probably couldn't make that play because they don't have the arm span Simon has...
So you have to be a tall cornerback and long arms, basically what you saying...
So why is Darrelle Revis arguably the BEST cornerback in the NFL? How do you explain that? Simon is much taller and longer than him

This is my opinion. He has not proven himself to the magnitude of praise he's getting. He have to show me.
The praise is coming from miles and cooper. The fans are just echoing it.

The game and practice is totally different.
A lot of you JJ haters will vouch to that. And Miles always say how good JJ looks in practice. Game time, another story.

The coaches obviously feel that Simon is better for that spot for some reason. No one knows exactly why but there is a reason and it may just be that they want tm focusing on playing nickel where he destroyed people last year. Could he play outside? Absolutely, but why would you want him playing somewhere that he may nit excel as much in? You clearly have anger toward the fact that tm isn't the "starter" even though he will be in like 80% of the snaps when you should be excited that we have 3 awesome corners and not be calling one of the overrated

on a jump ball yes, not as big a deal on a downfield route. your goal as a CB is to cover close and disrupt the route with great body control, if you can make a play on the ball great.
it is funny though, last summer all the talk was that the staff would be fools to put Simon at corner because there would be no way he could play there at his height...

Pretty much. Doubt anyone can do what Simon can in the Nickel slot.

Revis is like 6' tall...he isn't a short CB. And no, you don't have to be a tall CB. I'm simply pointing out what advantage a WR would have on him. He is too valuable to lose in the Nickel slot and he matches up physically better with slot WRs anyway...

Tyrann is 5'10. He came to LSU 5'9.

The important thing is that we effectively have 3 shut-down corners. This will enable us to blitz heavily.

No the important thing is tm "starts"

sarcasm noted!
All 3 corners are going to get lots of playing time. In addition, when you've got young guys it's a very nice luxury to be able to pull them off the field to do coaching as needed. I love being DB U!
