You will not have to even worry about the ban. Smith will see a lot of playing time. And be very important to the offense.

With the stacked WR class coming in '14, does anyone think Diarse would be a good option at TE?

I know this Desean is a true TE and as the season progress he will become more and more involved in the offense.

Diarse is too short to play TE, imo.

Diarse would move to safety before switching to TE

Dont forget we have atleast one beast TE in that same 2014 class as well

Diarse cant be a TE. just not gonna happen

I agree he'd more the D before TE but hes not moving to S

All I hear is that hes so special with the ball in his hands and they arent gonna take that away.

He is really thin for a SEC TE at this time

A few weeks ago he posted on twitter that his current weight was around 250.

CamdenTiger,

You nailed it. I talked with Smith and Coach Miles at the Tiger Tour 4/30/13. Coach Miles publicly named him in the 4-man rotation.

If smith comes in at a good weight and can block, he might get good pt. I just doubt that. Why would the staff waste a spot on a juco te if smith was ready.?

Shea Dixon ?@Sheadixon 44m
Barbe TE DeSean Smith will arrive at #LSU at 6-5, 248. I see him as an instant impact guy with his size/speed/hands combo.

Smith is going to be a great tiger, a great pass catching TE is crucial to any great offense. He is big enough, athletic enough, and has good enough hands to play right away. However, he will need to develop as a blocker if he wants to play alot in our system. I don't think you we will see him much in the first half of the year, but I could see him playing a good bit in the second half of the year. Until he becomes a good enough blocker to be an every down kind of TE, I think he will be used more like a Jimmy Graham slot guy on passing situations, creating mismatches with the LBs and safeties. I hope we use him like UGA used Orson Charles his freshman year. I think the over/under of 17 catches is about right. Definitely looking to see more catches in the later part of the year.

If Smith is as legit as they say then he should have no problem getting on the field on atleast 3rd down situations unless the coaches dont feel his blocking is where it needs to be to see the field
You better know how to block, you better know your routes and you better know the playbook or you're not playing much, if at all.

I don't think the new OC will have much tolerance for those that can't mentally prepare themselves to do what he wants, no matter how good they looked in high school.
