We were playing a bunch of walk-ons at the end. If he didn’t play, there’s a reason. If he didn’t even travel with the team as some have said, then he was either already gone or was told to go. Sucks either way.

He isn’t terrible and he was certainly pressed into a bigger role than he was really ready for because of the state of the roster the last two seasons. He’s going into his true junior season and second in this defense. Let’s see if he develops further this off-season and improves before everyone writes him off as a lost cause.

This. Penn has a better frame for inside. Tolan would not plan over him next season

After what BK said about him after the ARK game it was pretty much a given he was going to be a huge contributor next year. Strange to walk a way from that and I'm sure he could get an NIL deal fairly quickly if he doesn't have one now. This may be just an NIL play. He has not posted anything on his own social media but it is strange he didn't dress for bowl game leading me to believe there may be something else going on.

Greg Penn was our leading tackler last season in his 2nd year. Tolan was not going to take his starting position though he may have started along side him and been in a 3 man rotation. We'll definitely miss him but we still have 2 outstanding middle LBs with no debth. Hopefully W. Weeks, another recruit or the portal will produce.
