UNC, Duke, NC State are all next to each other. WF is in Winston-Salem which is 80 mi away in opposite direction.

More away fans stay in New Orleans than Baton Rouge for LSU games.

For many games, especially a lot of the big ones, it’s true. They stay Friday night in New Orleans, hang out in the quarter, then drive over to Baton Rouge on Saturday morning.

Duke, UNC, and State are right next to each other, but I should clarify. The town of Wake Forest, where the school originally was, is also in the vicinity. But the school has long since moved to Winston-Salem, which is over an hour to the west on I-40.

The Reynolds family of RJR moved the school from the town of Wake Forest, to Winston-Salem. The Duke family of tobacco fame also moved Trinity University to Durham. Both schools are on Tobacco Road (US 70 or I-40 depending on how old you are).

Earlier someone said that UNC was preppy and not blue collar...yes that is the reputation. They said it wasn't a good SEC fit because of that I'm not sure how that's different from Georgia, Bama, or Ole Miss.

People love coming there for games. The food and vibe is just a whole different experience than elsewhere. The hoods aren’t really a factor here as visiting fans obviously do not travel there. They go to the park, eat around campus and go to the hotel. Keep melting. LSU will always be a bucket list trip for opposing fans.
My strong advise for visiting fans to maximize the Baton Rouge/LSU experience is to drive in at night, stay on campus at Lod Cook, have fun on campus and the game on Saturday, (Doesn't get any better than a big SEC Game AT NIGHT in Tiger Stadium) then try to depart as soon as the traffic clears after the game because you don't want to see the LSU campus right after a football game.

You also DO NOT want to be caught anywhere in Baton Rouge outside of the campus during the dangerous night time hours OR during the daylight hours because most of BR is a filthy and poorly maintained shitehole.

Get the hell out of Dodge under cover of darkness. Drive to New Orleans or the Mississippi Gulf Coast right after the game so your senses wont be damaged from having to witness filthy arse Baton Rouge during the day...........
