Yeah - I have no eligibility left, am pushing 50 - but Coach Miles left a message this morning about some "opportunity" to play defensive line on a world class football team.

I'm thinking he's just casting a wide net though. It would take me several weeks to even be in any kind of shape to play, and I don't see myself starting before October.

Isaiah Washington/Arden Key will be playing early.

Hopefully that position stays injury free.
Herron and Gilmore better be ready to contribute.

Recruits will see immediate playing time but depth will be a huge concern.

Miles better lock up the entire DL group (DTs and DEs) in a padded room from now until 9/5.

We can't handle anyone getting hurt in preseason camp.

Does this DT exodus indicate Steele leaning more to 3-4 than 4-3 ?

Bain is just about right to play DE in a 3-4.

So - I don't think so.

(And obviously, he'd like to, but we don't have enough guys who can play inside (either NT or ILB) in a 3-4 right now - we'd need 2 full years of recruiting to do so, IMNO. And the 1 cat who clearly could have played NT in a 3-4 is Valentine. I suspect scheme isn't the reason. I suspect some disciplinary housecleaning on defense is the reason.)

FWIW, Bain in not on the LSUSports.net roster. We have 16 D-Lineman, 5 of whom have not lettered. Presumably walk ons? IKD.

Based on Dandy Don, here is an unofficial depth chart

LE
No. 46 Tashawn Bower 6-5, 237, JR
No. 58 Sione Teuhema 6-4, 232, SO
No. 49 Arden Key 6-6, 215, FR

RE
No. 92 Lewis Neal 6-1, 255, JR
Suspended: No. 90 Maquedious Bain, 6-4, 299, SO
No. 98 Deondre Clark 6-3, 244, SO
No. 94 Isaiah Washington 6-4, 224, FR

LT
No. 91 Christian LaCouture 6-5, 300, JR
No. 97 Frank Herron 6-4, 278, SO

RT
No. 57 Davon Godchaux 6-4, 298, SO
No. 99 Greg Gilmore 6-5, 305, SO
No. 95 Quentin Thomas 6-4, 303, SR

We were already inexperienced and now we have lost some quality depth. I'm concerned

please step away from the ledge...away from the ledge please. It's going to be ok. Do we need a professional to talk you down.

You idiots on here are just that....idiots.

We have at least 5 players at DT that can fill the spot...and I'm sure someone will step up to make it six. If we run into a rash of injuries at DT, then we will be in trouble...until then, we aren't any worse off that we were before.

Also, you idiots keep talking about inexperience at DE....LMAO. What are you concerned about, that we won't get the pass rush we got last year from the DE's.......??? LOL

We are going to be just fine on the D line.....unless we have an unordinary number of injuries. Settle down fella.

We should be fine here. A full season of Beckwith over Welter will be a giant improvement. If he goes down, we're f'd in the A though.

Just because we have players on the roster that can "fill the spot" doesn't mean we have depth. I don't care if the roster says we have 11 guys who have lettered. Are they any good? That's what depth is.

A few years ago we had 6 NFL players on the D line and Jemauria Rasco couldn't crack the 3 deep.

But hey, "I'm sure someone will step up to make it six."

You're fricking clueless.

listen little kid, we were bad last year at DE...that will likely be an upgrade this year. At DT, we were young...we haven't lost a single player that contributed significantly last year...and with Johnson back, we will have six guys that should be able to contribute significantly at DT.

I'm the clueless one though.......got it little kid. Again, step away from the ledge. Please tell me who we lost at DT, and for the matter, at DE that will cost us......?????? Please don't tell me Hunter or Rasco.....last year was the worst year we have had in recent memory, in terms of creating pressure from the edge. Yeah, I'm the clueless one.

Valentine
Trey L
Rasco
Hunter
Bain

And you're over here pimping Mickey Johnson saying we go 6 deep at defensive tackle. Yes. You're clueless.

ETA: MJ will "contribute significantly"

What world do you live in?
