The last couple weeks have been a big step forward for our defense. A lot of credit goes out to both the staff and players after the abomination of a product we saw the first few games. They have consistently gotten better since the Missouri game, and a lot of that I believe is due to Baskerville taking over for Clark.

Even against Auburn they started out well before we started giving them free points. While I haven’t forgotten how poor they were early on, they are definitely in the process of redeeming themselves. Last night they played hard, fast, and aggressive all game like you would see from a typical LSU defense. I’m cautiously optimistic that the light is turning on for these new guys, and they will have a lot to build on for next year.

I think the Bo Pelini project working out is best for LSU long term as it would give us stability on that side of the ball for potentially many years. Let’s hope he can continue the progress!

This can not be understated. Notice how when Clark was in, big plays happened where he was.

It is due to coaching, but that guy is broken for this D and should never see the field again on D.

Bo Pellini did not forget how to coach defense. He has to have the players that are capable of performing. Marlon Favorite hit the nail on the head in the post-game when talking about what A&M was doing to Finley and Brandon Taylor said that is why you do not simplify the defense. If the players cannot grasp it, then put the ones in that do.
