Take les Miles and give him the same resources as Vandy and tell me his win record. It won't be pretty.

signature, you make some good points, but the facts are the facts and in 1998 she was built all new facilities that at the time were top notch, now we have fallen below in this area, but it is not like over 36 years you can blame this, maybe the last 5 sure...and how about arkansas, they passed us last year and had NO program until 11 years ago!!! I know a good bit about the sport (as you appear to) but we are in the SEC (the best conf) just like football, how long does a football coach (or bb) last if he/she finsihes in the bottom half of the league 10/12 years??? the answer is he does not even make it that long...one other thing, I have said nothing about her personally, but how well is she liked at LSU, your stuff about Saban is BS...and even if true he has been gone for 7 years...is she a "team player" in the AD? Or is she the most despised person in the building? and does it matter to you?

In the 36 years she has also made it to the Super Six twice (2008, 2009). Made 28 consecutive NCAA regional appearances, 23 NCAA Championship appearances, 8 NCAA individual national titles, 11 Regional Titles, 14 Sec Champions, 4 SEC Gymnasts of the year, 110 Scholastic All-Americans and has 600 career wins. She's finished top 20 in the nation for 17 straight years. The SEC is the most competitive conference for gymnastics. One good note is that she added an assistant this year who coached for Georgia and won something like 4 straight national championships. The future looks good so let's see what she can do this year.

We will have to agree, to disagree. Mainly, because I'm on an iPhone. We can have a friendly debate when I get back to the office.

I still stand strongly behind the notion that LSU is much better served forcing Miles' hand on an OC than a gymnastics coach who has managed to keep us nationally recognized in her sport. I think even you will agree that the depth of her passion for our alma mater is something we can all be proud of.

How does a gymnastics thread turn into a Miles needs to hire an OC.

The OP is a joke. I'm praying that this is your worst post ever.

(s)he starts this thread every month or so, but it rotates between gymnastics, women's golf and women's basketball

I wonder what Utah did to get kicked out of the cartel for UCLA. Maybe they threatened to go public.

sainstfan, help me out on this, how and why? I go to a few meets each year and have seen the NCAA's on TV and it does seem UGA/ALA/Utah etc win all the nc's, but how can it all be rigged? Are you saying LSU being 4-5th every year in SEC out of 7 teams is rigged (just like aub and Uk are always below us?)....I know it is WAY, WAY Far from an exact science, but how is it rigged? Every judge at every meet is paid off? too much for me to buy

I'll tell you my opinion. Any sport that requires the "opinion" of an innately biased human to calculate the only method of scoring is setting itself up for shadyness. Just my humble opinion.

Conference standings, hell even season record means nothing in gymnastics.

I refuse to believe only 4 teams have been good enough to win a national title in the entire sport's history. Clearly the judges give athletes at certain schools the benefit of the doubt at nationals.

DD has too many underclassmen leaving for the pros every year and going off to make movies.

I sort of dig the fact that LSU serves as the farm system for "Stick It" and "La Reve".

saintsfan, I agree with you here, good point, but I do not view this as reason for support for DD. I also understand your point about the scoring being different and biased- it is human, but again to me does not add to the argument of wether one thinks DD's win % is "justifiable" or not...but as far as the sport itself, it is tough to warm up to

But winning % means little in the sport since your average score determines rankings. In theory you could lose all your meets before postseason and be the #1 team in the country.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner. It's common to catch a loss and move up in the rankings. Which is why posting W/L statistics in defense of your point should be dismissed. Again, all my opinion and the way I see it.
