I could watch that Laron hit on the qb all day!

I agree...and the common denominator for both Bama and Nebraska?...beastly D-linemen in Cody and Suh. I am confident in saying we have the defensive backfield to make this work, we just need a lineman or two to step up in a big way. I think we'll get that.

I dont think Levingston and Nevis will do it..maybe brockers, downs is good, but not big enough...I think our Ends will be damn good though...esp Edwards and Montgomery...we wont be good in the middle till the freak arrives...

I don't mean to say that we'll get the dominance of Suh, Cody or Dorsey, but I think that the rotation of Nevis, Pep, Davenport and one of the new guys backed by Shepp in the middle should prove to be serviceable against the run. Combined with the speedsters off the end, I think we're alright. Then again, defense is just not my big concern for 2010...go figure.

Chavis will have us back at #1, maybe not this season but bank on it.

We don't have the players or talent to play that type of defense anymore. Patrick Peterson and maybe Kelvin Shep are the only two starters on defense that can maintain that style of play. Maybe Loston can, but that is yet to be seen.

Isn't Downs pushing like 280 now?

I suspect we'll see a more vocal and aggressive Chavis this year. why ? ... pretty much just because of human nature. We're all somewhat subdued at first on a new job. You might not think the analogy fits but think about it in games played compared to say, days on the job.

Will he be Bo P ? No, but he'll have at least the speed on D that we had back then and speed is what makes hits hurt, not size.

More than likely we will never be that violent of a defense. We will be fast and aggressive but never feared like it was back then. Sucks, but thats where we are at.

Please do not ask the Chief to discard his gentle ways.

Thank you

You didn't see all those vicious hits in the 2001 SEC title game. Knocked out the starting qb and rb, so I wouldn't go that far.

This year Defense is doing great whats your complaint?

Ranked 9th in total defense and has been laying people out.
