Is anyone else as bothered as I am that we essentially wasted the collegiate career of what could've been a really special player? The sad thing is that as a TE in this type of offense he should've excelled and been a favored target. We got this physical specimen and basically pissed his career away.

It's completely inexcusable that a guy like that gets less than an average of 1.3 receptions per game in both his junior and senior season. He went out with 18 receptions in 14 games. What could have been.

You have no clue man. I have been saying this for years. The guy should have gotten a LOT more touches throughout his career. He is one of the players I am most upset to see leave.

Agreed. Just another wasted player that had so much talent and it s like we just sign them up in a recruiting battle just to have them and not use them so many to name but just for now, Peterson and Shep.

Our uninventive offense is incapable of being varied enough to involve the TE.

Uni-dimensional is the word for it. What is going to happen to CLM's offense next year without JJ and his quick feet?

Our RB's have to share the rock with a stable of other backs.
Our 4 & 5 star wide receivers are simply blocking backs.
Guys like Shep ride the pine.
We don't develop our QB's.

We better enjoy Gunner, cause this shite is gonna start hurting us long term. Kids flat out are not going to want to come to a school to watch the inside of their helmet grow spider webs.

In many of the game's boring and uninspiring offenses, the TE serves as a safety net and gets plenty of targets, particularly if an offense is afraid to stretch the field. That's what makes his output beyond ridiculous. He should have been made a focal point. He's a nightmare matchup on anyone and making him a prominent figure in the offense would've made both the passing and running more effective.

You have to blame the OC.Peterson should have been the key to the offense but he was under utilized.Absolute waste. No linebacker could cover him.

Thankfully RR made a number of plays with JL throwing him the rock and is viewed as a quality player. It at least gives us something tangible to be content about.

Any more Deangelos/Sheps/Tollivers and the continuing lack of production/unappealing draft stock of our outgoing skill position players and I worry we're going to feel it in recruiting.
