Didn't really dig into their UFAs, but their draft record was unimpressive at CB or S between the Vikings taking Brad Edwards in the 2nd round of the 1988 draft and (notwithstanding a couple of late round picks, Lee Wiggins and Arturo Freeman) and, say, 2002 - when they really kicked off:

2002 draft - Sheldon Brown and Andre Goodman (that's like 1000 tackles and almost 50 INTs combined) - now how many of those snaps were in this period of discussion, I can't say.

...then a few more picks who didn't play much until Dunta Robinson (originally Texans), another ~600 tackles and 17 INTs. Ko Simpson and Johnathan Joseph were in the same draft (2006) - Joseph just needs to defend 10 passes this upcoming season to be the NFL career leader.

They've only had 6 (notably Captain Munnerlyn, 2009 Carolina, most recently with Buffalo), over the past 11 or 12 drafts, but They've had a few guys with really long, productive careers at the position - more than I would have thought without this thread prompting me to dig into it a little bit.

Contrast that to LSU who has had roughly 1 DB taken every draft since Curley Hallman was fired.

I'm somewhat sick of the argument. The only people that argue are players, understandably so bc of pride, brainwashed fans, and ignorant fans. If you ask any unbiased, knowledgeable party or even a biased party with a level head, LSU is THE DBU.

On another note, as a biased party with a level head, I believe LSU has an argument in the conversation for WRU and LBU. This is very debatable but an argument nonetheless. From a brainwashed point of view, we have also bred enough RBs to whisper about RBU.

Let's just make it simple and call it NFLSU

So LSU has 0.2% more than OSU while OSU has had a lot more recent high draft picks, and this is definitive proof? If we go back to 2005 does OSU pass LSU? 2006 seems arbitrary

Munnerlyn played a whale of a game in a torrential downpour in Tiger Stadium in the 2007 game.

Stephen Gilmore has been one of the best DBs in the NFL this decade. He's probably got a ton of those snaps

I was working from furthest back and probably glossed over some of the recents - obviously, Gilmore taken with the 10th pick in the 2012 draft and was last year's defensive player of the year.

Swearinger is a solid player who seems to change teams every year.

Rashad Fenton is coming off of a solid rookie year that has him with a Super Bowl ring already.

In 2005 Donte Whitner of OSU was pick No. 8 as safety and a 2 time pro bowler. Ashton Youbouty was a 3rd round pick and played 7 years. Nate Salley was a 4th round pick and played about 3 years. LSU had no DBs drafted.
