I gave him credit where credit was due earlier in the thread...you want to take a piece of my post and grill me on it? The point is there is no fall off in coverage skills with our back ups because they are all good cover guys

How do you know their cover skills? Most didn't have the best offers, and we have a new DB coach as well. Not flaming, but I was concerned prior to TM heading off.

I think in John Chavis schemes... these guys will be fine. no matter if they are a 3 star or 5 star, long as his DBs can play man to man real good and his DE are long and have pass rush ability..the future will continue to look bright.

to say it is no big deal to lose a player like that is stupid. We are lucky we are soooo stacked so that we can weather the loss.

I agree, bcwarb, we'll be one of the best, maybe THE best, team in football even without TM. But he's a big loss. He was truly a playmaker.

Did a story with this kid last year... He will be a good one when he gets on the field... Not sure if he will be ready as a true freshman but remember his name.

When was he good in coverage? Those were he only 2 games he had to play back in coverage

TM was outstanding in coverage. He had a height handicap, no question. How about when Debois tried to take TM right after spanking Mo? TM covered him step for step and took the ball away. First down, Tigers! West Virginia is a bullshite example. The strategy was to keep the action in front and play for turnovers. The strategy worked beautifully.

Tennessee would have been a better example than WVU.

To be honest, IMO, he didn't get as "exposed" in the NCG than the haters claim. What, 4 completions on him? No TDs. In fact, to my knowledge, I can't remember a TD scored 'on' TM. Period.

But...

People saying he was good in coverage...he was. He was always there. But he was undersized, and COULD be exposed with the right combo. Last season, even though we faced a nasty schedule, we didn't face a team that could expose it much, because we had Mo on the other side. This year would've been similar, in that we have Simon on the other side. He would've been on the big receivers anyway, IMO. Bama just happened to find a way to take advantage of his height disadvantage, but again...that isn't nearly what cost us that game.

I don't see a big issue with the loss of his punt return skills. He never ran a punt back until the last reg season game of the year, so we went 11-0 without that aspect. But his turnover production was amazing, and we need to figure out a way to counter his absence in that department.

Settle down everyone. Last year we needed TM's big plays to compensate for a one dimensional offense. Mett and the fab 5 will take care of the big plays this year.
