Southern hasn’t had a player drafted since 2001. The last time they had a 1st rd pick was 1971

What point are you trying to make in relation to Cotton?

Every kid doesnt have NFL dreams... And just because he's headed to Southern doesn't mean he can't make it to the NFL. Alabama State converted a HS walk-on QB into a 2019 1st Round Draft Pick. If you're good enough, the NFL will find you.

They produced a HOF not too long ago.

Tell your boy Ed to quit running of lineman. We need them.

Over 95% each year on our on football team will never see the NFL. The kid just wants to play ball so I don't see the problem in transferring to SU. LSU or whomever if a kid isn't going to get any burn why not go to a school where you will play.

I’m not sure posters in here understand the mess that is Southern University

You think LSU administration doesn’t have a clue, these people take the cake in fricking clueless

Just a few years ago, multiple Southern seniors would have to miss multiple practices each week due to class conflict scheduling

Multiple athletic programs were placed on probation and sanctions due to administrative incompetence

You travel to Ita Bena and Lorman, Ms; play in the Houston Dynamo stadium.

Hey, I guess you got the jukebox tho

It’s a head scratcher, pal

Dantrieze Scott transferred to Grambling. This is no big deal.

You know what the big deal is?

Going by memory here but I'm pretty sure I read that there are over 400 players who are in the transfer portal. There are not even close to 1/4 of that in available scholarships for Div 1 schools. If every 1-A school had two scholarships available right now, that would be 260. Not enough for every player in the portal to sign.

Most schools are processing players right now to get to the maximum limit. They are not signing players that will have to sit out a year. UNLESS the players are they highest rated and best recruits from previous classes.

The big winners from the transfer portal are going to be 1-AA and JUCO's. They will be selecting the BEST remaining players now and will know of every player that is available.

If a player is not good enough to get picked by Clemson, LSU, USC or these schools just don't have the scholarships available and they can go to SE La or NW State and play immediately. Why not?

Who cares? If the kid wants to transfer to southern that’s on him. It’s his collegiate career. He’s a small school kid and maybe SU suits him better....maybe physically he can’t cut it in the SEC and wants to play meaningful snaps which he hasn’t since he was a Jr in HS. Or maybe he’s a giant candy arse and bitches about playing time instead of putting in the work. Either way it’s his decision, can’t forget that these are young men that are supposed to be trying to make their lives better either through education or the NFL dream.

You really think that administrative issues immediately factor into what FCS school someone wants to transfer to for playing time?

Again, LSU has some spiteful fans who shite all over some college kid because he wants to go somewhere else.

Good luck to Davin Cotton - I hope he does well and that SU is a good fit.

Louisiana has too many universities relative to the population and tax revenue and Southern and Grambling should be the first ones closed, because their original reasons for their existence is antiquated.

SWAC football is pure garbage these days, BTW.
