Son of a bitch.
Hope we keep Kelly. Maintaining quality assistant coaches is a difficult task in the upper ranks of college baseball.

Wow can we get some stability please. I guess it’s good that your assistant is looked at highly but I would like a guy here for Jay at least 3 years especially at the onset.

Hate to see him go but wish him the best. Hope we keep Kelly.

But I have confidence in CJJ that he will continue to hire quality assistants.

This is the sign of a quality and vibrant program when your assistants are in demand. In contrast, how many of Beth Torina’s softball assistants have been hired away in the last decade?

Can confirm LSU assistant coach/ recruiting coordinator Dan Fitzgerald has been hired by Kansas as its next head coach. Fitzgerald coached the infield this year.

good riddance?

Definitely an opportunity.

I don’t think he had coached infield specifically before that.

Not saying he didn’t deserve it, just sucks. Hope it doesn’t push some draft prospects the wrong direction. Good for him though.

Need to keep Kelly.

maybe he's better as a head coach? imagine wanting the guy who coached this infield the last season.

No shite, huh? If it were my company they’d be trying to give him a retainer bonus to stay

Works both ways. New hire might swing things this way, interest some other guys, etc. The key piece here is that we need an assistant that specializes in defense, familiar with the catching position, and has some recruiting ties. Hard to match or better Fitz in the recruiting department but I trust Jay there. Now we wait to see if Meatball rekindles the old flame at UW.

That definitely hurts recruiting. Jay has a lot of work to do

He's one of the best hitting coaches in the country.

I was not a fan of him as a 3B coach. Looked like a rookie out there.
