Are we being forced to wear masks at the game tonight?

Everyone’s big mad because the general will surpass daddy dale very easily. He’s well on the way and it’s only been a couple years. Bootup

As a very young, rabid LSU basketball fan, he gave me the biggest “moment” in history of all of my LSU Fandom memories. Exceeding even the football nattys, the baseball nattys, if I had to choose one- and only one- I would always choose the basketball run to the final four in 86. We had lost to Kentucky three times, (they were equal at that time to Bama football today), we had played them hard all three games and came up short. But in the elite 8, we beat them. Everything surrounding that run formed a memory that will last forever.

I’m not mad and I think Wade is a heck of a coach
But why can’t brown and Wade both be considered great coaches?

Where do you people come from?
Do you know what Dale did at LSU?

It’s simple, because brown wasn’t a great coach!! Awesome recruiter, not very good x/os. Coached better when he had less talent

If Shaq is there, I wouldn’t be surprised to see shareef get a few minutes

If you don't understand why he is getting the court named then you have no understanding of LSU basketball before Dale Brown

Most people believe he was the one telling dicky v that lsu was about to get a NOA and that brown is jealous of Wade
2 reasons why I don't think it’s true
1)Shaq’s son is here. I promise if Dale brown didn’t like Wade, shareef wouldn’t be in purple and gold
2)He did a hype video for Tennessee in 2019, he wouldn’t have done that if he was actually jealous
People here take rumors and run with it
Look at the facts before opinions
The narrative that Brown dislikes Wade (or vice-versa) was pushed by Jordy Culotta. Now, there is no question Jordy is connected with the program both through Wade and John Brady. That said, Jordy is also a "fanboy" when it comes to Wade.
So what likely happen is yes, Brown did have communications with long time acquaintance, Dick Vitale. And it is likely in those communications Brown overstepped the breath and depth of his actual knowledge of the current basketball program to which Vitale took and ran with it...to the detriment of Wade's program. I don't get the sense Brown dislikes Wade (or did at the time). I just get the sense Brown thinks he has more knowledge of the innerworkings of the current program than he does, and he's not unwilling to speculate as to things of which he has no actual knowledge.
In turn, Jordy, because he is a fanboy, overexaggerated everything and made it a Brown vs. Wade narrative, where not much of one really existed.
Wade is clearly not opposed to accepting the involement of former coaches in his program (see Brady on the radio broadcast). He just probably got aggravated that two old relics from college basketball past think they know more about Wade's program than they actually do. Still, Wade knows the history of LSU basketball and respects what Brown was able to accomplish here...which should be respected. It ended poorly, but Brown's tenure is STIL the most successful period in LSU basketball history. Even if it is marked by instances of unfulfilled potential.

Dale brown pushed for Johnny Jones to be hired which in return set this program back for years. Thanks dale

He won four SEC championships. To put that in perspective LSU had won only 3 championships in their nearly SEVENTY year history before Brown took over. And the program has only won 4 since he retired (spanning the tenures of 4 different HCs)
He took LSU to 13 NCAA Tournaments. LSU has only been to 8 in the ~25 years since he retired.
He brought LSU to two Final Fours
He retired as the second-winningest basketball coach in SEC history.
For over a decade he made LSU basketball as popular as it has ever been before or since.
You can dislike Brown for any number of reasons. But to say he didn't accomplish anything relative to the 100+ years of LSU basketball is just fricking dumb
