I didn't see it at the game, but saw it on the replay. LaFell caught a screen and even the announcers mentioned it looked like he had a lot of room to run until Byrd basically quit blocking his guy who made the tackle. Someone yelled something from the sidelines and Byrd reacted much like he did in the South Carolina game.

This shite is really pathetic. Lee throws pick6 after pick6 and all the Lee supporters feel sorry for him and just can't seem to understand why ANYONE would have something negative to say about the kid. Oh yeah, he's a RS frosh and only 19.

But in the case of Byrd, nobody feels sympathetic for him. Yes, he can show great at the combine and still get drafted. Let's not forget too that he is also a KID. He maybe be a couple years older than Lee but he is still not that much more mature than he is. Of course he will explode when the chips are down and times get tough. He is young. Of course he is worried about his future in the draft, he is young. I also don't think it is merely a coincidence that Lafell has damn near twice as many receptions a Byrd. Lafell is Lee's favorite target so I'm sure Byrd is frustrated. Part of Lee's problem is that he throws to Lafell even when Byrd and others are wide open.

Why is every sympathetic towards Lee but have no problem making Byrd out to be such a villain. How come nobody seems to understand that MAYBE, just maybe Byrd is truly frustrated and because of his youth he reacts in the wrong way? Is that so hard to understand?

I will say this, the fans are consistent with the coaches. Console and sympathize with Le, but yell at and blame anyone else. Byrd gets yelled at for not catching a pass that was horribly thrown. I bet they never said a f'ing word to Lee though. Lafell will not blow up ever, not because he doesn't want to but how can he? We all remember the season he had last year. If not for Byrd last year, this team would not have even played for the NC. You should all be thankful for this KID and cut him some slack. Miles is cut slack for promoting his buddies that have done a f'ed up job this year, but you cut him slack because he won a NC last year. Does Byrd not deserve the same slack? He actually f'ing played on the field.

You obviously haven't read much of the rantings about Lee lately.

I get that he could be frustrated with the QB play but he is not doing anyone any favors by not giving his all on the field and throwing fits off the field.

I am also tired of his act about being hurt when he makes a bad play.

This guy has a ton of talent and has the ability to get everyone around him fired up when he is on his game.

I hope he gets on the same page with the coaches and his teammates and helps us win out this year.

All I can say is wow. You must think that Terrell Owens and a host of other NFL players have a right to cry and throw their QBs under the bus. You're really foolish. We aren't talking about a redshirt freshmen. We are talking about a senior who has an SEC Championship, National Championship, worked his way up from JUCO ranks, and was thought to be a leader on this team. He has no room to be acting like this. Most college kids go through breaking in new QBs...it's part of college. The only thing he can control is his effort. If he's not giving it 100%, he deserves to be yanked.

I don't come on this board and bash our players. I don't think it's right...but just as bad, is you making excuses for someone when it's an effort issue. Players drop passes, make bad passes, miss tackles, and whatever else, but if they do it at full speed, I can live with it....if they're doing it half-arse, well, that's not how you build winners, and that's not something this program can tolerate.

I give up because it's pointless. This problem will soon be over and Byrd will be gone. Hopefully everything works out for the best for the kid. He is young but I see y'all still expect perfection from him. Last year he displayed no such behavior but all of a sudden this year he is uncontrollable and whiny. I wonder why?

You are far mistaken. I don't expect anything close to perfection. Too many factors contribute to many things in the game of football, but unless he has some injury we don't know about, his effort is the problem. I would say that about anyone on the team if they weren't giving it their all. It's cut and dry. Things aren't always going to go your way in life or the game of football, but you don't sulk and half-arse it.

Who expects perfection from him? All anyone expects is 100% effort and being a team player. Everyone has bad plays, but few of them say things to reporters about their Freshman QB that makes things even harder for him. Not too many team players fail to run through a perfect TD pass because they are upset with the QB play.

You should give up, you are on the wrong side of this argument. Byrd's draft stock has dropped badly, but it is not because of QB play. Pro scouts recognize when a player's production drops because of bad QB play, and they don't hold them responsible for it. Unfortunately, for Byrd, they also notice the dropped balls, the poor effort, and the attitude problems.

Give Byrd a break...this is his "money" year & we don't have a QB that can regularly get him the ball so he can show his skills...he's frustrated, I'm sure, as would be any player.

You need to watch the replay. He either quits on his blocks or does not block at all.

It's that simple.
