Crowton's problem wasn't a lack of creative playcalling--it was developing talent and coaching quarterbacks
Developing takes time. Lee and Jefferson were Freshman thrown into the fire. Jefferson is a deer in headlines and will never develope.

No. I wanted Jefferson to sit so we could run a real offense.

a good OC adapts to the talent on the team because its going to change from year to year. Plus...he was also the damn QB coach
another one of Crowtons many flaws

another look back at the blog-post right after Crowton was hired...

There you have it. The only year he improved upon his previous year while at the same program was 2004. BYU couldn’t have gotten any worse after a terrible year in 2003.
The truth is Gary Crowton has a good offense. But smart teams are going to figure it out. Guess who was coaching Utah when BYU went scoreless in 2003-Urban Meyer. Most of the coaches in the SEC are almost as smart as Urban and they will shut down LSU’s offense. LSU has great athletes and he will find a way to make them look bad.
The Las Vegas Bowl was a great game this year. For most fans, I am sure it was a boring game. BYU almost shut out Oregon and won the game 38-8. Watching Oregon play brought back bitter memories of when Crowton was at BYU. They looked clueless out there. BYU’s secondary was injured. They didn’t have most of their best players playing because of injuries. Crowton failed to take advantage of his highly athletic receivers. Instead he was worrying about which quarterback to play on which down.
Be ready for an undisciplined offense that fails to make any adjustments-during the game or season.
LSU will probably have a great year with their athletes. They will score a lot of points. But don’t expect them to stay that way. Not with Crowton as the offensive coordinator. The numbers don’t lie.

Jimbo Fischer the former LSU Oc and successful head coach at FSU basically said the same thing that's why the offense has not changed. We won because of Cheifs D we were 107 in offense . I promise you that's not sabans philosophy . Saban pounds the ball but he wants to put away every team!

If Crowton hadn't failed in a similiar manner everywhere else he's worked, I'd give credance to this article.

Not when the talent is on the bench. Time will tell this year whether Lee or Jefferson should have been playing. Here are Jeff's stats last year.
Jordan Jefferson, QB LSU 209 att 118 comp 56.5% 1411 yds 7 tds 10 int
Jarrett Lee 54 com 89 att 573 yds 60.7% 2td 1int
Jarrett Lee had one pick in 89 atts. He has not had a chance since being thrown in as a fresh

you keep referring to one year. Miles has been here 7. Why hasn't the offense sucked every year if Miles is ruining the offense?

I dont buy that it wasn't his offense. The majority of the offense was his and for the most part he was calling the plays- which was one of the main problems with the offense.

Again....why the hell are y'all only talking about 2010???? Miles has been here 7 years...Crowton was here 4.

That explains Saban's 4th Quarter Program, right?

Garry had one good year at BYU, Oregon and LSU.
Was Miles the HC at Oregon or BYU? No.
Crowton was the one who attempted to substitute a whole personnel package with no time outs and less than 20 seconds remaining vs the Vols.
Miles has questionable offensive/game management philosophies but Crowton still contributed to the offensive (and I mean offensive) fluster cuck that has been our offense. Plus, Peyton Manning would regress under Crowtons QB coaching.

EVeryone thinks it was all Crowton
Miles condoned that anemic offense on the field the last 2 seasons.

Playing it close not too to lose instead of attacking to dominate?

all don't think it was all Crowton. But he did have the title Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach for a reason. He also got a healthy paycheck with those titles.

Miles had the same philosophy in 05, 06, 07. We were ranked 34,14, and 9 in total offense. Hell 51 in 08 aint looking too bad.
That Miles is sneaky

Look at the offense when miles came to LSU when Fisher was the OC and look at the offense when Crowton was here under Miles. Two completely different OC'S and styles yet the offense was almost exactly the same. The only thing that was the same was Miles. I really don't see any difference this year unless Miles keeps his arse out of the play calling. If he don't you can expect to see the same old shite.
