We need to get off our high horse and resume the series.

Why would we do that? If Tulane wants to come to Tiger Stadium every game, then I'm sure something could be worked out. That was the hitch, LSU did not want to give up a home game to go beat Tulane in NOLA every other year and Tulane did not want to give up a home game to go lose to LSU either.

I agree, just want to add that Tulane did not want to give up its most profitable game in every other year. The LSU game in NO is the closest to a sell-out that Tulane football could achieve in those days.

Can't blame them but they had no leverage. I will admit that the nostalgic part of me wishes they still played.

ULM beat Ala in Sabans first year. SO its highly unlikely based on the talent gap but anything is possible.

If the guy had said it was UL Lafayette's best chance of beating LSU, he would have been right. But he said they would mop the floor with LSU. ULM beat Bama Saban. UAB beat LSU Saban. Neither mopped the floor with them.

I get that.

First Tiger game in person was 1972 LSU-Tulane in the Sugar Bowl. 9-3 Tiger victory, with a game saving tackle on the LSU one yard line as time expired. Was surrounded by drunk people, one even fell down the stairs. The coolest part was Dad not stopping 9 year old me from yelling "Go to Hell Tulane, Go to Hell" (felt like a total badass).

Great night, that I remember vividly 50 years later.

ULL would have literally killed LSU. Anybody who disagrees is just blinded by their fandom. They had some really really good players there under Napier as well.

Sounds like I'm about a year older than you. But my experiences in Tiger Stadium didn't start until my freshman year when I attended LSU (I actually lived in the West Stadium dorms in 1980). I grew up poor and in Lafayette, so Tiger Stadium seemed like it was a world away.

"Get off our high horse..."? Notice that there are zero weenie fans in this thread clamoring to play LSU. They have never, in the last 30 years +, sold out their ticket allotment. And the SLI / USL/ ULLLAAA troll on here is offering his biased opinion as to fact. Go play in front of your 25,000 fans in your Conference whateveritisthisyear stadium. On Thursday nites. But strictly as an aside, you do realize that last year's LSU team came within 2 consecutive passed in the endzone, in the last minute of the game, from beating mighty Alabama on their home turf.

I'm actually related to some Domingues from Lafayette (but who from South La isn't) on the paternal side of the family.

Grew up out of state, so it was a world away. Thank god for John Ferguson and WWL.

Domingue or Domingues. They all derive from the same Portuguese/Spanish name, Dominguez. Spellings split off over time. A lot of people from the Houma area spell it Domangue, as well.

I have friends with the exact same name that I am not or barely related to. If there was a way to DM here I'd ask for some names but not sure if you want to share that publicly.

Domingue. I was using the plural for the whole family.

Related to many of the classic Cajun surnames, but there are Hernandez(s) mixed into the family tree generations ago. Afterall, the Acadians migrated to Louisiana when the territory was under Spanish control. Inter-marriage was quite common between the Acadians, Native people and the Iberians.

Never knew that Domingue's origin was Iberian (Portuguese/Spanish), thanks for that info.

I have Hernandez relatives also. Distant relatives though, even though the mom was a Domingue. I'll mention her name, it was Bella, she passed away some time ago, though.

We could be distant kinfolks
