May even be more staff turnover coming? Raymond might head to Baylor as well before it's all over.

I’d imagine with all the turnover, locking up Raymond would be a priority

For those of you who do not know this, the AD/Woodward does not hire assistance coaches, he is responsible for hiring the head coach and the head coach hires the assistance coaches.

Didn’t he just get a new contract last year when he interviewed for the UGA job?

He is likely going to be involved on the budget side however. CEO is going to have to work with him (and perhaps invest some national championship political capital) to pay for his first choices across the board.

Aren't all (or most) assistant coaches contracts year to year?

Raymond wants a DC position. I think he’s earned it whether that be here or elsewhere.

All of the position coaches are on 1yr contracts that end at that time. Except the OC/DC (and maybe other elevated coaches like Asst HC) and Ed. I’m not 100%, but I think that’s correct.

No he did not. Maybe it was because of Joe Alleva?

No its not. Raymond signed a 3 year extension in 2016, and that same contract expires March 31, 2020.

OK- so this is total car wash gossip. I live in a Maryland suburb of DC and several months ago I took my car to a carwash, behind another guy with LSU on his car. Needless to say LSU decals are few and far between up here, so for the five minutes they were cleaning out the inside of our cars I stood next to him to talk about how great the season was going.

This guy had an LSU emblem on his car and an Omega licence plate surround and said that Corey was a pledge brother of his at LSU and Corey is all LSU and was nervous that he might lose his job when Coach O got the full time gig. His pledge class gets together every year at LSU for a game and while he didn't get to see Corey much (since he was busy coaching the game) he said Corey was all LSU and looking forward to seeing where this team could go this year. I said from what I can gather from the interwebs LSU fans are more nervous that he may jump ship to go get more money and he said Corey loves LSU as his alma mater and doesn't want to go anywhere else. No discussion of if Corey ever wants to elevate to DC but he was happy at LSU as DB coach.

So, if I read this I'd take it as an unsubstantiated rumor and having talked to the guy I'm not sure if he was yanking my chain, but after talking to him I'm thinking it's at least probable.

Take that for what you will.

Raymond can make his money here as an elite DB coach but I’m not too sure Orgeron is going to roll the dice on replacing Aranda with a guy who has never called a game defensively in his life. This is the mistake Miles made with Malveto in 2008 to try and keep cohesion, he promoted from within and it was a disaster.

We would be better off letting someone else take the risk and let us go out and pay big money for a proven DC.
