Smoke was a loser, but not a big loser because Skip canned him before it could happen. No doubt the program was going to the shitter fast. Joe Dean is only remembered for losers...his legacy is bad because of it. Skip has so many more wins than loses in his coaching and AD career that he can absorb the hit. Again, nobody is perfect...you have to evaluate the entire body of work.

Skip was head coach in baseball in 2001. No school the size of LSU names the baseball guy AD. He was not close to being AD at that time.

It's not a comparision, its an example. There is no comparison between Dean and Skip. I think you would agree with that.

As I said earlier, no matter your opinion about the Henry decision, it in no way defines Skip's tenure as AD. Look at the big picture. Fundraising is up, facilities are good, and we are winning across the board. Is there anything else that matters? Skip was very good and I can;t think of anyone previously who has done as well or as much for LSU. If you can name others, I welcome your opinion. Personally, I thought Broadhead would have taken LSU to great heights as AD if the shitheads in charge would have let him run the program. By the way, Broadhead brought Skip, Henry, and Arnsbarger to LSU. Pretty good huh.

to make sure our track teams stays good(which they will be since we are so young and a good recruiting class) we need to get upgraded facilities.

Hey Ron, ig A&M's football goes on the rise because of track then why in the hell did LSU's football program suck while the track team was winning all of those NC's?

I'm all for it. I know one thing though...the only way it will get done is through fundraising and TAF...and LSU has just the guy to do it.Damn Skip you were and still are the best

no, ive stated my case throughout the thread about his stupid decisions

yet you just latch on to the fricking track case.

its ridiculous that people on this board think nobody at lsu can do any wrong

this just in, all people in the lsu AD are in fact human. but what do i expect to hear from you when you think that smoke wasnt skips fault

I never said he was not his choosing. Igave you the reason why he did it. There are many screw ups at Lsu but Skip is not one of them. screw ups include, but are not limited to, the board of supervisors, Laval, Hallman, Archer, Dean, Dinardo, Pokey, and the ticket office. You can add a few if you wish.

I've got a lot of friends in the know of college t&f, and I'm pretty sure Henry wanted a little higher salary (didn't even demand LSU match A&M) and he wanted a new indoor facility (which he shouldn't have had to ask for).

I know T&F isn't a high dollar revenue sport, but it still brought a lot of notoriety to LSU. It's really inexplicable to lose a coach like Henry.

you are going to see lsu track fade away, mark these words down, and tamu will be the new lsu in track

Nah. Shaver is a good coach, he just isn't Henry. He's brought in some solid athletes. LSU will still be a top-15 track school, they just won't be competing for national championships anymore.

Skip hand picked Smoke to get money in his pocket. That's a fact. He was thinking of himself and not putting LSU first.

So, he's 50/50 on his choosing of baseball coaches.

You are pissing in the wind arguing with LSU92 because people like him will never see reality because they don't want to. It's like people who think OJ is innocent because he was good at football. Just a dipshit mindset.

Skip has made poor decisions, perhaps to benefit himself in the case of Smoke and he did a good job with his second hire. He's not the best AD, maybe better than Joe Dean, but when you are compared against a bucket of shite, it's not too difficult to win out.

i would be willing to bet you will see tamu get much better in football over the next coupld of years
and I would take that bet....i don't have a dog in this fight as far as skip ruling/sucking as AD but A&M returning to prominence due to Pat fricking Henry coaching their track team is a reach to say the least.
