In fact tj looked better until he played a good defense.
Totally disagree with this. TJ wasn’t very accurate even in his good games, either. He just had more wide open WRs reaching back to get the ball. His lack of touch and inconsistent accuracy just didn’t cost him in those games. He was also very slow moving around in the pocket. I’m not saying he didn’t have a couple of really nice outings for a true freshman, but you are inflating what he did as much as some others are over-pumping Max.
Max isn’t the second coming, but there’s a reason he passed up TJ on the depth chart. He had better pocket awareness and accuracy. Not great in either regard, but better than TJ and good for a true freshman. Hopefully he improved both over the summer. Max is also obviously a lot quicker on his feet.
There wasn’t even a comparison to be made between Max and TJ in Spring. He and Myles were head and shoulders above TJ, who likely would have been passed up by Nuss as well, given time. There’s a reason he left. He was never starting again here.

I’m trying to take a wait and see approach. But if I had to answer, without being a homer, I think he will be very average. There will be splash plays but his numbers won’t pop, but he will take care of the ball and hopefully the defense is improved enough that we don’t have to outscore the opponent in shootouts.

Can he complete 65% of passes?
NO.
He’s not a good passer. People just get excited about his legs.

After having had a few games of live experience under his belt, continuing to work and improve under the unofficial direction of his dad and others, a full spring practice, a full fall practice, practicing reps with his receivers, an NFL offensive coordinator who has been working with him as Joe Brady did with Burrow - all that combined, a 10/10. And the coaching staff this season seems to be a 180 from last year in that there isn't any behind the scenes hatred and drama. I'm very confident. We can score on UCLA for sure.
The defense is what concerns me the most. And facing UCLA in game one with Chip Kelly doesn't exactly make me feel at ease to start things off.

I liked what I seen last year given the circumstances. I think he will be an All-American before he leaves LSU.

I’m more than confident in Johnson. It’s the OL and RBs that I’ll need to see perform before I have confidence in them. Specifically, it’s time for TDP and Emery to step up or move aside

quote:to even be in that game as 20 point underdogs playing a bunch of freshman says a lot. He made some big plays to keep LSU in it long enough for florida to implode. Nobody thought LSU had a chance Remember that
He needed a shoe throw and the leg of a god to win that gam
