At what point do we get rid of these games? The committee has said in the past that it's goal is to put the best 4 teams in the playoffs. If they do that again this year Alabama is in and benefitting by playing one less game. If the championship game doesn't matter let's stop playing them.

It's always been odd because it makes for an apples to oranges comparison, especially when not all conferences had them. But I think they're here to stay.

It would be better if they did away with stupid arbitrary divisional alignment winners for the championship and picked the two teams with the best records like the big 12.

Having a 12-0 team playing an 8-4 team when there is a 9-3 or 10-2 is absolutely retarded.

LSU can lose to Georgia and both will be in.

It will be hard for BAMA to get in.
No wins vs ranked opponents
Not winning the West, so they sit while we play in SEC championship game
LSU has to lose two of next three for BAMA to win West
BAMA has to beat Auburn; not going to be easy
Committee has to say BAMA top 4 team with no quality wins

The CFP committee needs to be consistent regarding these. Either they count and factor into the selction process, or they are irrelevant. If they count, you can't leave a 12-1 conference champ out in favor of an 11-1 team that didn't win its conference or even its division. That would be sending a very dangerous message, because it would appear that the criteria is different for some teams named Bama than it is for the rest of the college football world.

But sometimes two of the best four teams nationally happen to play in the same division.

It still gives those bragging rights to the team for the year and something meaningful to the players. As much as I'd like to see it not played cuz of the chance another team sitting home while one gets injuries ... I just don't think they will end it. Too much money involved also.

That sucks for them, but do you honestly think that we would be getting the same benefit of the doubt had we lost? If you do, I have some ocean-front property in Arizona you might be interested in buying.

Now that the playoff selection process is 100% human, you can't apply the rules to some teams and not to others. It's not fair. Bama doesn't have a single win over an opponent with a winning record. That fact cannot be ignored. They lost the one game that mattered. Everybody was saying that they had to win or they are out. Ok, they lost, so now they should be out.

Agree. If they leavean 11-1 conference champion out in favor of an 11-1 team that didn’t even win their division, then what incentive does a team in LSU’s position (if we win out the regular season of course) have to not just say “we don’t give a shite about this game. We are not going to risk injuries to starters. We are going to play walk ons and 4th stringers”? Other than bragging rights (which doesn’t amount to shite) what does LSU have to gain in playing an extra game this year if conference championship games don’t matter?
