When Ryan day leaves for NFL and OSU offers him the job… regardless where he is he will go to OSU. That would be a bad look for LSU losing a coach to OSU.

When was the last time LSU lost a HC coach to another NCAA program in a lateral move?

Ryan Day isn't going anywhere. Ya'll need to understand that if USC wants Fickell he's going there.

We want coaches that are coveted by other programs. That’s not a bad thing.

Possible

But I think a lot of coaches will look at what is the bigger “rebuild” and which program is ready to explode with-in 2-3 years.

Go back to Tom Herman…he chose “name” over quicker success.

Solid coaches will remember LSU/Texas hires and Ed/Miles winning NC, they’ll compare LSU/USC…yes, I’m biased…but if your looking at Success day 1….which is the better move? It’s LSU. Doesn’t mean a coach won’t chose name over instant success.

So a coach who everyone says is a Midwest guy and would not leave Cincinnati for LSU would leave to coach at USC? That doesn’t make sense.

Eh, I mean it's not ideal but who really cares, we almost lost Miles to Michigan. You hire the best coach you can and worry about that later.

You have NO clue if or when this would ever happen.

The concern is the dude has never left ohio. Well, I guess he left for a few months, but seriously, he has never left ohio.

You have to go after the top name on your list and I assume Fickell is high on SW’s list. If he bails later like Saban at least he hopefully gets the program back on track and wins a natty. I bet he jumps at the USC glitter if they go hard after him but we would be a much better opportunity to win now.

USC’s current AD is the guy who hired him at Cincinnati, so it’s more of a known for him. You can obviously win big at either place.

I agree

But about twenty years ago some folks spelled it ya’ll.

I feel it was incorrect but actual southerners like you and me fixed it.

Other than Michigan courting Miles in 2007, when was the last time a premier NCAA program went after an LSU HC? And that whole Miles/Michigan saga was a mess. Saban was likely not going to another college program if he had his eye on the NFL so I doubt he was listening to other colleges. It isn't like there has been a long history of teams trying to poach LSU's HC.

He grew up in Columbus, he played at OSU, he coached there for 15 years.

Why would a coach leaving for his prestigious alma mater be a bad look for LSU?

Why do you think Day is impressing anyone. Doesn’t everyone see OSU is declining?
