I've got this one...
Looks like I'm in compliance.

It seems to me that it's okay to make a shirt with TM7 etc on it, but it's not okay to SELL stuff with his name/likeness.

The cowboys own the star. I guess it is because they are America's Team.

I asked a friend of mine, an attorney who knows his shite, about this. He told me what I expected him to say. As long as the names tyrann or mathieu or LSU or his picture are not on it they have no case. They make a stink hoping to decrease the production. HB7, TM7, etc could mean ANYTHING so a suit would hold no water nor could the NCAA pass down hand slaps on LSU or TM. He's in the clear as is anyone who wants to make shite and sell it. F em!

The Qb for K state is #7 and the team/fans call him honey badger.

Its gonna be hard for them to enforce the cease and desisit on TM7 or 7... They would lose these I believe.

I can make these as long as I don't sell them, correct?

the whole point was for LSU to be in compliance. NCAA says they have to take steps, they have, arse covered.

The number 7 by itself is okay to produce. You can make all of the shirts you want with a 7 on it.
However:
"Honey Badger" + "7" = "Tyrann Mathieu"
Is there anybody else that those two items reference?
If you took a poll, would most fans think that it meant Tyrann Mathieu?
In short:
(1) Honey Badger by itself is okay.
(2) The number 7 by itself is okay.
(3) Combination of Honey Badger and the number 7 is NOT okay.
Question…..What if I make 2 individual shirts; one with honey badger stuff on a dark background and bold lettering, let’s call this the undershirt, and one with the number 7 stuff on it on a very thin, white background that is essentially see-through, let’s call this the over-shirt…..
Could I sell them as a combo or would they need to be on separate racks in the store to not violate the licensing regs.?

I thought Sesame Street owned the rights to the number 7.....
Can we use TMseven?

Just me, looks like WWL takes what they want too.

Specifically, officials in the LSU Compliance Office say the rules prohibit the use of the word "Honey Bader" or an image of a Honey Badger accompanied by:
- The number 7?
- TM7 (or any other likeness)
- Name of individual
- Image of individual?
- LSU

--- cool, as long as we don't use "Honey Bader", we are ok...

They're not claiming the number 7 per se, but because the player wears that number, people would know you're referring to a particular player. It's all about likeness.
Except the NCAA pretends the exact opposite when they let schools sell jerseys with numbers but no names. The company line is an Alabama jersey with a #3 on it is not a Trent Richardson jersey, it's just an Alabama jersey that happens to have a 3 on it.
