LSU and Alabama both did this a few times before finding Saban.

Again, just like the bashers like to spin the facts to fit their agenda, I am comparing the last five years of both coachs' careers (when Miles had comparable talent). If you don't like those facts, then too bad.

Please by all means tell me who is available and willing to coach at LSU that is better than Miles now or 2 years ago....
I'll wait...............
The typical apologist fallacy.
BTW I just read this "Apologist bullshite on the thread from the Shreveport times, I also read another part where some Rantard douchebag used quotes to start another thread...
Do you people have any original thoughts?

Have you seen Miami's record since they fired Coker? You just proved that the grass is not always greener.

So you recommend that Miami should have kept Coker?

Enough. I can't stop

No one should ever be fired, you could hire someone worse. I love the simpleness this board exhibits.

Thats my question......

Lets face it, if this really did happen, we have the wrong MAN running TAF. There are things, eventhough I am a member, that go on in TAF that should not be public knowledge. If we have someone at the top of the most influential organizations at LSU making these comments in public than we need to make a change!

Miles isn't being fired now and in all honesty you know as well as anyone that I have been very very critical of Miles. But I support LSU football and Coach Miles and they have a great opportunity this upcoming season in my opinion.

agreed...if true it shows very poor decision making on his part. I don't know if Miles contract was rolled over this year, either way, the way I read the addendum to the contract, his buyout is not $18M, but the balance left on the contract from the date of termination without cause...which can be paid monthly over a period twice as long as the remainder of the contract at the time he is fired. The $18M part was the maximum possible payout.

I don't think we need to judge the head of TAF based off comments attributed to him from a guy posting on a sports message forum.
I'm surprised this thread wasn't whacked from the get-go, but with the editing of it, someone finally had 2nd thoughts bout posting this kinda stuff.

This whole pile of bullshite is typical of this craphole. The 13-year-olds who spend all day here need to grow up, stop lying, and quit poisoning LSU athletics with their bile.

tough to get an OC when you're an apparent lame duck head coach.
But you can hire a passing game coordinator and promote him to OC if things do not work out.

If 2010 is like 2009 or god forbid 2008, then it will be time for a change. If LSU goes 10-2 and to the SEC Champ game, then Miles deserves another season.
I'm gradually getting optimistic about this season.

The "Fire Miles" talk is premature. I am critical of some aspects of his coaching style/ability as well but to say he deserves firing now is too much. If LSU flops this season then its reasonable.
I don't have much faith in Miles and co. ability to get things in gear and contend for the SEC again, but thats just observation, not desire. I want him to succeed. Just don't think he will be able to do it.

I believe that any way, leave alone the search firm or approaching candidates, won't work the way the Rant wants it work.
Because it is still done by the LSU administration.
The demand to remove Miles because of fear of not competing for the SEC west, leave alone SEC, might be reasonable to some - but does anyone have faith in the LSU administration to find a suitable replacement?
We didn't pay top dollar to get a man after Dinardo. Saban showed results/NC and became the $4M man.
We didn't pay more than a Million or Two for Miles after Saban. Miles showed results/NC to get the $4M. (Using the same hiring methodology and pay scale in spite of having tasted the success a year or two before)
I really don't think that we (LSU) have that much luck in store that if we got rid of Miles and hired another $1.5M coach, that we would be back with an NC in two years and pay him $4M.
Why not bring in a new $4M guy?
1. Because our history shows that we don't do that.
2. We would have expended quite a bit of buyout money if we had to fire Miles.
3. $4M guys who deliver don't grow on trees and there is a veritable scarcity of those.
Does that mean we should be stuck with Miles if drags us down?
No! But let us at least be a little bit patient given
- the cyclical nature of college football
- Miles has made some changes on the offense as well
- bashing our head against the wall for 2010 season only hurts our head

While I agree with you that the LSU AD hasn't shown that proactive nature usually, you have to consider a few things. 1) Joe Dean was AD. Nuff said. 2) With TAF and seat licenses, etc, the amount of money LSU football makes is night and day compared to pre-1999. (Also see point #1, lol). 3) Skip thought he could hire a "Saban" but with "Yes man" qualities and go cheap at the same time.
The circumstances have really changed and if a coaching change is deemed necessary, I expect LSU to step up to the plate.
Remember, prior to the 2000 season, there was no waiting list for season tickets. There is now because of the success, even with escalated prices. Keeping that machine rolling will be a priority for the AD, as it should be.
ALL OF THAT SAID, Les Miles is our coach for the school we graduated from, love, support, etc AND all of this posi/nega bullshite is enough. This upcoming season LSU faces a strong OOC and hopefully has the potential to make all of our speculations non-existent.
That is what I hope for and it's a great opportunity - a word I use a lot in real life - to silence the critics and re-establish faith in those that have been wavering. Other bridges will be crossed only if needed.

exactly, I'd rather wait after this season. If he doesnt have a good season with an experience QB and OL then
complaining and moaning will not make him go away, let's just see how things will work out
