Nick Saban was leading the program.

Les Miles is no Nick Saban.

Carl, you are the best sports writer working today. Another great piece - beautifully constructed and right on target with the content.

I believe the 2009 Tigers have what it needs to win the remainder of their games. They are also showing signs of being able to lose all of them (the ones that count, of course). This when you find out who you are.

It's not so much a matter of desire as it is basic skills that the Tigers are missing right now. A 10-2 or 9-3 season wouldn't be bad for a team that has to grow as much as this one.

Let's see who steps up, if anybody. Miles? Crowton? Jefferson? Scott? Somebody needs to.

True. He has a better record and the same amount of NCs.

"the fanbase may be powerless to directly change things, but not necessarily indirectly. The fan base is the customer..."

Well done Carl, having talked to those guys Bradie James and Trev Faulk in the past I was certainly getting that "Us 11" vibe from this time, only it's the offense this year. Nice archive if quotes, you really are doing great work. Keep it up.

Great article Carl. Your writings are making me come to the Rant on a regular, if sometimes belated, basis. Using some past LSU teams' successes not only drove home some great points, but also brought back some great memories.
