No offense, but your input on football sucks, and you're a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian. You're worse than me during basketball season (this is the meanest thing I've ever said to anyone).

Don't fool yourself; you're as RANTarded as anyone around here.

Wow, East Carolina jumps from unranked to 14th in the AP poll. I haven't seen a jump like that in a while. Gives them an almost certain BCS bowl if they win out.

and they'd deserve it more than Hawaii last year or Boise the year before

you cant expect them to give LSU special treatment

So, it's "special treatment" not to lose your spot in the rankings because you didn't play one week? Did USC get "special treatment" holding onto #1 despite having a bye week?

This poll doesnt matter anyways

This poll sets the order for next week's poll, with adjustments for losses, which in turn sets the order for the next week's poll, and so on until the last poll before the bowls, which absolutely do matter.

EVERY poll matters.

What other team in the top ten dropped because they had a bye week?

It seems the polls have become a lot more fluid and if they are impressed with a team and you are in the way they will move them up...Mizzou. It's not like they have a huge resume of LSU to go off of. And what was LSU's reason for being #6 in the Coaches Poll? Preseason and a win vs. Appy St. Are voters supposed to assume you are #6 without considerable evidence and with considerable evidence that Mizzou is really good.

Week 7 LSU shouldn't drop for not playing...ranking would actually be based on a body of work.

Week 2...why not, voters are still trying to sort out the contenders from the pretenders.

So, who was more impressive this weekend, Georgia or USC?

Coaches drop LSU after suffering the worst storm in Baton Rouge's history??

What does one thing have to do with the other?

OK, this is complicated, so follow carefully. Missouri passed us because they beat the hell out of a cupcake while we didn't play. If we HAD played, and had beaten the hell out of a cupcake, we'd have had just as impressive a showing as Missouri and there would have been no argument for dropping us. BECAUSE OF THE STORM, we didn't play, so that's why they dropped us.

Clearer now? The storm had EVERYTHING to do with why we dropped.

We jumped Georgia in a week they didn't play, when we played the SECCG

Yes, because we played in a game they didn't earn the right to play in, and beat a team that hammered them and DID earn the right to play in it.

not suprising. the teams ahead of us look a little better and the teams behind us are not as good as us.

Who in the hell looks better than East Carolina right now? If it's truly fluid and based on performance, how can ECU not be #1?

Seems pretty simple to me the connection between the two.

As it would to anybody with a brain, which, unfortunately does exclude a substantial part of the Rant population.

Definitely.

or Boise the year before
Debatable. Boise played Oregon State and beat them 42-14; the Beavers weren't great, however, and that was BSU's only BCS opponent in the regular season. When put to the test against a really good opponent, the Broncos beat the Sooners in overtime. Suffice it to say that, in retrospect, Boise State did belong in the BCS that year--they were good enough to beat the Big XII champs.

ECU will play four BCS foes and probably beat them this year. They also will play in the CUSACG at home if things go according to plan.

Looks like Pirates and Deacons in Miami on New Year's Day.

Quite frankly I don't give a shite.

Most LSU fans do give a shite where we're ranked and what our chances are of winning the national championship.

If we take care of business we'll definetly be in the top two.

You can't be sure of that. If the USC-Ohio State winner and the Oklahoma-Missouri winner both go undefeated, what's your assurance that LSU will leapfrog one of them into the national title game? You may have an opinion that we will, but you have absolutely no guarantee of that.

We have plenty of time to settle this on the field.

When do we play USC, Ohio State, Missour and Oklahoma? I definitely need to contact LSU, because I didn't see my tickets to any of those games in my season ticket package.

One spot this early won't matter.

It mattered in 2004. It would have mattered in 2005 if Georgia or Alabama had managed to get through the season undefeated.

Another brainiac.

If any SEC team had USC's resume the last 10 years they would get the same respect in the polls. Don't hate because your idea of proving yourself nationally is playing North Texas.

Winning two of the last five national championships is not exactly playing North Texas. Proving yourself nationally means gutting it out and winning against a good team in the SEC title game even though your starting quarterback is hurt, as opposed to, say...collapsing like a house of cards and losing to fricking Stanford or Arizona just because your starting quarterback got hurt.

You mean like beating an SEC team on the road 45-0 while USC piddles around with Idaho and then beating the living shite out of a top ten ranked Virginia Tech team 48-7 while USC is idle and not jumping them in the rankings, like last year?

Face it, Zamoro, you're full of shite.

100% agree. the polls are a joke and always have been. ecu is the only team out there that has any sort of a resume for the #1 spot.

eta: i can't believe i am actually saying that.

SEC resume? I believe 4 teams in the top 10, and LSU having to play the other 3 is one hell of resume. And we should not be put down or dropped for playing a weak nonconference schedule. If our conference was as pothetic as the Pac 10, we'd be able to play a team like Ohio State. Wait, we did that last year and ran them out of the stadium!
