He has had incredible success at the school, going 112-32 in 11 seasons and winning one national championship.

now, that is some crazy resume material right there...we get rid of les, there will be a stampede of ADs making offers to him.

Who cares? LSU will be looking for it's next great coach. There are no excuses to cling to this year.

I'm a Miles fan. I'm glad he wasn't fired. But I agree with the consensus on here: Miles needs to perform at championship level for the first time since 2012 at least.

If he didn't have such a stubborn nature, everything would work out for him. Look at Patterson and Saban for example. They brought in young, talented OCS and let them do their thing. The list of our OCs has been old dried out guys who can't get much work. Charlie Strong is doing it this year and I expect it to pay major dividends.

He should go after Kendal Briles or make Craig OC in 2017. He's gone after young, creative, and technique driven on defense with Aranda, now do it on offense.

Bowden was 80 years old at the time. He was clearly on his way out regardless. He may have left a couple of years sooner than he wanted to, but he was a short timer. Les could easily have 10 or more good years left in him.

Bowden should have been out way before he left, same with Mack Brown at Texas. Keep a coach past a certain time and it starts to devalue your program. LSU is loaded talent wise and has built up enough clout that any half decent guy can recruit well here now. Once the new coach starts producing on the field, it will be a lot easier to get the recruits.

People like to say it's an execution problem for the team, but when it's a yearly problem, it is obvious that it is the coaching not the talent. It looks bad being the fourth most talented team over the last 5 years (per recruiting numbers), looking at the insane talent producing in the NFL, yet having only one year in that span produce anything of note. Worse is it being the first year at that.

Les Miles last 8 years have been damn near identical to John Cooper at Ohio State back in the 90s (76-22-1 Cooper, 78-26 Miles). He also had a problem with Michigan going 2-6 in that span and 1-5 vs Lloyd Carr. Miles has gone 2-7 vs Bama in the last 8 years and 2-7 vs Nick Saban. Cooper went 3-4 in bowl games during that span while Miles has gone 4-4. Yes Cooper did have one bad 6-6 season in that span, but he was given a year to turn it around and was fired after going 8-4 the next year. However he was just 2 years removed from going 11-1 and winning the Sugar Bowl when he was fired.

Ohio State went after Jim Tressel (an FCS legend of sorts, but who had never head coached at the FBS level). Tressel crushed it at Ohio State beating Michigan every year but once. The only thing he didn't do was win multiple national championships. He did play in 3 and won one though.

IMO, if Miles doesn't win the division this year, we need to move on while the team is still loaded with talent. 2017 is a rebuilding year for the most part anyway.

Exactly.

We've had numerous NFL players the past couple of years, with zilch to show for it. Execution is the problem with Les Miles teams. Penalties, poor clock management, and atrocious and predictable play calling.

Definitely. Call Art Briles now.

I just find it hard to believe that he is on the hot seat with all the additions he made this spring to his coaching staff. I feel like only a losing season would throw him out, because then what would happen with this amazing recruiting staff?

The SEC in 2002 was not the SEC it is now. Crap, Saban won the West with three loses. I never see "LSU fans" trying to crap on that West title as much as some want to crap on the 2007 national championship.

Miles got to two NCGs and Richt got to none. End of story.

Those people are imbeciles. Miles hung Alleva and the so called "big money alumni" out to dry last season. Barring a complete collapse, Miles leaves when he is good and ready.

No, he's not.

This was my first post in this thread:

quote:

If Richt can get the boot at UGA, I can easily see the same happening to Miles. Richt was 126-45 at UGA including 9 10-win seasons. Really the only thing that separates them is the national championship, and that was nearly a decade ago now for Miles. If UGA has taught us anything, it's that even if the coach is admired as a great human being, fans will eventually get pissed if the team keeps failing to win the division.

How is that trying to start a pissing contest?

I was simply making a comparison between the situations at UGA and LSU. You think I'm trying to brag about how our coach got fired?

If we don't win the SEC with this team Les never will win it. This is clearly a team built to compete for a NC
